Hey guys; I thought I'd come to you with this. I work in a charity shop, and we have a basket full of cheap diecast cars, 50p each. Anyhoo, the other day I glanced at the basket and spotted something. A black car with red lettering on the side. I pulled it out, and lo and behold, it was a pull back 'n' go KITT! I don't know HOW me and my mate/colleague Rob missed it, because we'd both been through that basket a couple of times.

Anyway, it has some paint wear (particularly on the roof/windscreen frames, and also the right hand windscreen frame is slightly buckled, but it works. The windscreen is even intact. I disassembled the motor and gave it a good clean, and I've figured out that the motor can be wound up by pushing down on the car while moving it FORWARDS as well as back.
The thing I wanted to ask though, is how rare is this car? I'm well chuffed with my 50p bargain, but I'd love a pristine one. I looked on ebay, there is one loose one on there, in better condition than mine. However I noticed that the one on ebay has a red interior, mine is yellow. Also mine has a normal dash/steering wheel. Anyone got more info on this cracking little car?? :kitt2:

It's pretty old, originating from the time before the German Reunification, as it is made in West Germany. Two series were made, during the company's 10th and 11th series of die-cast cars, one with red and one with grey interior, both lacking the traditional curve of Kitt's dash. The car is 1:60 scale and is actually a stock Trans Am with a red bar painted on the front and the letters Knight 2000 on both sides. It has the KNIGHT license plate, yet in red and has the one-piece taillight. I have two of them, they are in pretty good condition and are precious items in my KR collection.

Thanks! Red and grey.....so how come my interior is yellow? You think someone had a few Darda cars and swapped the interiors around??

Yellow interior? Fascinating!

Maybe it was originally red but it was put out to sunlight for too much time so the light "sucked" the color out. It can happen to some plastics...

RobWolf, Could you post a pic of this cool sounding car? It's quite a story how IT found YOU lol turning up in your shop..how cool :)
