New Chicago Sun-Times article about the KR movie

Post by Chitown Knight » Tue Jun 13, 2006 9:45 pm

There's a new article about the Knight Rider movie in today's Chicago Sun-Times. It's in "GLARE", which is the celebrity news/gossip portion of the "Showcase" (entertainment) section. It's a nice article, aside from the fact that they obviously spelled KITT wrong.

Here's the link to my scan of the article:

Hasselhoff plans movie

June 13, 2006

BY CINDY PEARLMAN

Perhaps "Cars" downshifted you into the mood. David Hasselhoff hopes so because he's revved about bringing a different type of four-wheel vehicle to the big screen.

Yes, fans of "Knight Rider" can rest easy in knowing that Kit is coming to the big screen.

"Oh, it's happening," Hasselhoff tells GLARE. "My hope is that the 'Knight Rider' movie goes in a cool direction as a salute to the people who love the show. You do know that there are 1.2 million references to 'Knight Rider' on the Internet."

GLARE didn't know that, but we do know that this Kit flick is serious.

"I'm hoping the film will be like 'Batman Returns' where I come back and play Michael Knight and bring in a young knight rider like my son. I don't want people to make fun of it like a 'Starsky and Hutch' or 'Dukes of Hazzard.' People take their 'Knight Rider' seriously," Hasselhoff says.

Major names have already contacted Hasselhoff about participating.

"I have everyone from Jamie Foxx to Chris Rock wanting to be in the movie. They come up to me and say, 'You're my hero,' marvels Hasselhoff who stars next week opposite Adam Sandler in "Click."

"In fact, people all the way in Thailand come up and say, 'David, you're very big.' I said, 'Of course, I'm very big because you're very little.' They will say, 'No, you're big on "Knight Rider,' " he says, laughing.

Thanks for that Chitown...

It's interesting how last year Hasselhoff was talking about what the movie would be like, and now he's talking about what he HOPES it will be like. That would seem to add some weight to the idea that he's not as directly involved with the project as he once was. However, it is good to see him still talking it up.

Of course, the big piece of information we're missing is when he actually said those things. For a fluff piece like that, the quotes could be taken from an interview done months ago.

I swear, if "drawing cards" like them were in it, it'd become like some of the last episodes of the series in the 4th season: UNWATCHABLE!

The last thing we need is them in it if they aren't used right. Also, political correctness. Why just blacks...??
