I wanted to buy the season set so badly, but the reported sound problems have prevented me from doing so.
Any news from Universal's side?

I doubt anything will come of this. Honestly, I don't think Universal will feel it's worth the investment. They may have said something to appease fans ("of course we'll fix it") but soon after they released season four with a few of the same problems. Most of them aren't *too distracting - they're just odd. I'd just get the set and get the fix IF it is ever released.

I agree, It took them forever to release the entire series to begin
with and they just rushed to get that out. I seriously doubt they are
going to waist thier time going back and fixing every little mistake
in every episode. As said above, not worth their time. They got their
money and have moved on.

Oh, well... if that's the case, they just lost one customer.

The universal rep said that they would be fixing season 3, but I am still waiting for the email from the rep. It's been about a month since I talked with universal last and still no email. It may be awhile.

I'd be interested in knowing whether R2 release is corrected, otherwise I'm gonna spend the money on Airwolf Season 1.

Did everyone get this email today? :
May 19, 2006
Dear Knight Rider Season 3 Owner,
"Knight Rider," Season 3, is now available for replacement.
Please let us know your shipping address and daytime telephone
number, and we will send you a prepaid envelope in which to
return your "Knight Rider," Season 3, package for replacement.
In the return envelope, please send us the complete DVD
package, along with a copy of this correspondence and the
following information:
1. Daytime telephone number:
2. Shipping address:
3. Copy of your sales receipt.
Please allow 2 - 4 weeks to receive your replacement package
from the date you return the original.
NOTE: Your original "Knight Rider" package must be returned to
us within 30 days from the date we send your prepaid envelope.
We appreciate your patronage and hope that you will continue to
enjoy this and future Universal releases.
Ok, this is BS, who keeps a copy of their sales receipt, not me, so I guess I am up the creek, and why in the hell are they paying to ship everybody's boxes back, they're going to be paying a small fortune in shipping fees, when they could have just requested the discs like they did with the BTTF mess up... Idiots! I guess I'll just wait until they filter into stores some day and sell my old set...

What sound problems? I just started watching Season 3, and now there might be problems?! What kind of sound problems?
Is there any way to tell on the packaging if it's been fixed or not, or what batch number it was? Anything? Bueller? Bueller?

The sound effects are missing on a number of episodes. You'll start to notice it by the third episode.

I'll just print out a copy of the invoice page that I got from Amazon.com when I ordered. I always save these in PDF format (There's a utility out there that works to send to PDF instead of a printer).
I did get the email today as well. I'm glad.

I haven't gotten an E-mail yet. Just in case I don't, what's the E-mail address that we contact Universal at in order to get them to ship us that pre-paid envelope?

I bought mine as a R1 import on a website so I guess I'll have to suffer the errors...unless I buy the R2 set in hope they fixed them for our release.

Does this mean we should be expecting the fixed boxsets to be arriving at retailers? or will sending your boxset to Universal be the only way to get the rectified disks?

I think asking for the entire box back is a pretty good sign that those replacement boxes will be in stores soon, otherwise they would have just requested the discs, but even with BTTF, fixed boxes eventually showed up in stores with a v2 on the labels...

I do not have my receipt either. I am just going to send back the set and see what happens. The worst that could happen is that they just send it back to me without the replacement discs. They have already sent me a prestamped envelope, so they probably wont waste their money sending me back the old one.
