which feature of KITTs that exsists would you want?

Post by neps » Fri Jan 10, 2003 5:11 pm

okay, its friday and work is dragging so bear with me..

STUPID QUESTION TIME

if you could have one feature of KITT that is todays cars, which would it be? pretend if you don't have a car. keyless entry, remote startup, GPS system, entertainment center, tinting windows etc..

i think mine would be remote startup. always thought that is great for the winter and specially to freak people out as they walk by.

(sorry folks)

We have those now, just not that common.
But I'd have to say that, and the doors opening up by themselves would be cool.

One high-tech feature you want that KITT has which you can get in a real car today?

For my car, I'd just go with air conditioning! (it's illegal to recharge my old freon system so i'd have to put in an entirely new A/C system to get it working. Mucho bucks.)

doors that open by themselves are real though so you can have that option as well. Actually they are remote like remote keyless entry. But similar affect.

Yes they do. They are most commonly used by people who shave their door handles. I first saw it at Dimondback Automotives a former Kitt conversion company. Im definitely going to put them on my Kitt conversion. This summer I hope to have them on my Trans-am.

i think this is kinda going onto the topic of, what cool additions would u have on your KITT replica ? so im gonna answer this one anyway, lol

remote start, remote scanner, door poppers and maybe remote lights

http://goteking.hp.infoseek.co.jp/kishi ... hiwada.htm

if you go to that link then you will be able to download a few video clips of some Japanese replica's, the white one inparticular is cool ! its got remote everything, and there is a black one with lots of sounds comin out of it and stuff, really cool.

I'm going with remote start too, especially with the remotely activated headlights. It is a real pain trying to find your car in a totally dark parking lot, and juggling your briefcase, your flashlight, any paperwork that didn't fit in the briefcase, and your keys to find a hole in the dark, and then getting in, and having to warm the car before you move, or it will stop. Just a royal pain in the tushie.

I would love to have auto- tinting windows. You know like some people have on their glasses. They darken in sunlight and are normal in the dark. I want tinted windows on my T/A but when I drive at night with some of my friends that have tinted window I can't see jack :x ! Someone needs to come up with those. I'd be willing to pay for 'em :D .

How about an AI car? Maybe equipped with GPS, auto and control-tining windows, atuo-opening doors. hell I'd have ALL of KITTs features. But probably AI. Auto-opening doors ain't much fun if it opens and then some criminal jumps in and drives off with it.

Can't believe this hasn't been said yet, but the Auto Cruise function. I'd love to plug in co-ordinates, sit back, fall asleep, and wake up when the car had arrived at its specified location :).

No one said it because we're suposed to name things that are in cars today that KITT had in the series.

No worries though.. I made the same mistake when the thread was posted..

I think a cool feature in a carwould be ejection seats :D

That way if you're on a date, and it's not going real well, or the guys being a jerk, you could just toss him out of the car  :D

Um, once again, the question is: which of KITT's features that exists would you want?

The question is aimed at things that have already been made in the present day that KITT possessed, that we would like to have on our cars.

When you put it that way, I'd say the auto-startup, and the remote door opening.

Its more simple but a video phone hooked up to the monitor in a Kitt replica would be nice. Car phones exist, Video phones have existed for years just available mostly to the rich now they are becoming available on cell phones. But that would be cool pretend your talking to Devon.

How about a black car that doesn't get dirty 15 minutes after you wash it. You know, 'cause you know Kitt was also clean, ever in the dirt.

Until I saw that we were only allowed to choose modern day, existing features, I was thinking about going with either the MBS shell, the Turbo Boost jump or the Auto Pilot feature.

So, I guess *AFTER* seeing the restrictions, I'm left with the Auto Pilot. (Sure, that's cheating. Because, such a feature is available only in experimental and home made projects that have been in development since Knight Rider first aired.) I really can see such a feature being very useful. You know...take a little nap right after getting off a hard day's work and all.

I would have to say....well... I have seen vox boxes that are programed to say something when ever something is done or pushed...or something to the vehicle...VOILA! If I could figure out where to get one, I would get it in a heartbeat and program it to my truck "Shady" with a voice I make up. Or something :D
