I just saw "Custom Made Killer," and I have to comment on one thing that made me burst out laughing as being a bit ridiculous.
K.I.T.T. and Michael are chasing a custom red car used for paid killings. The guy driving the car whips around the back of a paint shop, hands the shop attendent some big bucks for a quick spray paint job, and the red car suddenly becomes green, and pulls out right behind Michael and K.I.T.T. who says "I have no idea where he went! He totally disappeared."
Come on. K.I.T.T. couldn't tell that the SAME EXACT car with all the same components and driver simply was now just a different color??
I am a HUGE Knight Rider fan, but some of these holes are hilarious.

I believe the car had a washable paint on it with a permanent undercoating. Unless Im talking about a different episode.

I agree. It was really stupid that he got away like that KITT should really have known it was the same one.

I think Kitt's scanners were adjusted to scan for a car with a specific colour. After the fake colour was washed off, Kitt's scanners lost the car. After all, no matter how advanced he is, Kitt is "just" a computer, you know, knows 0 and 1, but can do othing with a 2...

It's true. If he had been programmed to include cars in his scanning that were identical aside from their colour then he would have found it. So, a programmer's error

Or maybe Michael didn't think to say "KITT, scan that car to make sure the top layer of paint isn't fake!", or "KITT, look and see if the car we were chasing changed color!" It was an unexpected scenario. KITT is ultimately only going to do what he is instructed to do.

Well,
This happens in almost every episode if you stop and look. Kitt
is chasing someone, he stops to turbo boost or evade an object,
next thing you know. He no longer has them on his tracking scope?
Crappy equipment if you ask me. LOL.

Definately
The amount of times KITT can do something quite extroadinary in one episode that has to be conveniently overlooked the next, just to keep from ruining the second one is amazing. Admittedly, if he kept up his high standard, some episodes would be about 15 mins long

another thing i find funny in this episode (i mentioned iit in the bj & the bear post too)
is how the car going into the paint booth is a 1975ish plymouth fury (1 piece grille) and the one coming out is a 1977ish dodge monaco (2 piece grille)
they used to do this on the dukes constantly with the cop cars, which i can understand cause it was stock footage, but to have a car that is supposed to go through a paint booth and change colors and you know its supposed to be the same car, they should have had 2 monacos or 2 furies, so the grills would have been the same
just an annoyance of mine in that ep.
oh and i think your getting the episode confused with the A-team's "taxi wars"
it is a car wash the custom car goes into that is washed and the paint comes off...
in the A-team i think they use the exact same (or very similar) car wash, and they insert paint into the wash, and tape off a bunch of stolen taxi cabs and repaint them. and that episode does the same *?$# too, the cars are dodge st regis's (really boxy cars like the cop car that is chasing karr and michael, and arrests michael in Kitt VS karr) but when they are wrecked later, they use the older monaco/fury cars (like the black car above)
