The buttons on the overhead console

Post by jbrecording » Sun Jun 05, 2005 6:18 pm

not sure if someone asked this already, but what are the buttons that Michael hits on the overhead console when he talks to KITT or places a call to Devon? I'm guessing they are sort-of like a keypad and he is entering a search query into KITT's CPU? But I thought KITT was all voice-activated.

I think he does that just for show. ;) I began to wonder about this too. He just likes to "push KITT's buttons" so to speak. :) I've seen him use those buttons to punch up scanning, database query, answer a call from Devon, etc. And other times he would just tell KITT to do it without pressing any buttons.

KITT is completely voice activated. In fact, a good portion of the stuff on the dashboard is actually unnecessary as a result. Looks really cool, though. ;)

Yes, it does look cool. Michael likes to be in control. K.I.T.T. is voice-activated, but if Michael didn't have to press any buttons, then technically he wouldn't really need to manually drive the car either. I think KITT only takes over in emergencies or if he's instructed to do so.

right, the buttons are there so that he can operate the car even in the event that the computer isn't/can't.

As for why he does it on those random occassions....cuz buttons are cool!
Michael: "KITT! Where are ya?!"
K.I.T.T.: "I'm in your parking space, Michael, where else would I be?"
