Two Juggernauts

Hi all! Not sure if this has come up before, but there are two different designs of Juggernaut used, in Knight Of The Juggernaut. At the start of the ep, the machine has no protective grille, and has blue parts to it, as well as a Formula 1 sidepod style air intake. By the time it brutalises KITT, it is a dull grey all over, with the grille etc. The air intake is gone too. Can't believe it's taken me until last night to notice! Sadly, I'm unable to upload pics/screengrabs, but a Google search, or look at your DVDs will reveal all!

Are they actually two different vehicles though or is it just the same vehicle with the grille added later on? Upon studying these two images further, I think it's the same vehicle. You just can't see the air intake vents because it's covered up by the grille. The color of the vehicle probably isn't different at all, it's just that the color timing for these two scenes are different, hence why the top shot looks more blue and the bottom one more brown. I'll have to rematch the episode in further detail now to make a better comparison.

I spoke to Nick Nugent about the juggernaut and asked if he knew anything about the 2 different designs.Here's what he told me:

There are two different Juggernauts because the producers felt the first version wasn't menacing enough to pose a substantial threat to KITT. They added the front grille which was inspired by the front of Goliath and the additional explosive tip battering ram to give K.I.T.T. a true threat to run from without his molecular bonded shell.

The design originated in Spacehunters: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone and was modified twice for Knight Rider.
