Sheriff in Not a drop to drink

Post by Rockatteer » Sat Apr 26, 2003 2:46 am

Hasn't the guy that played the sheriff in this episode also played a cop in another episode?

I wish I could answer this one, but I haven't looked that closely through the episodes yet for this one. I thought I would kick it up though, to see if anybody else can answer it.

i think your thinking of a different episode because there was no sherriff in 'Not a drop to drink'

just the ranchers, never any law there apart from the foundation.

I think you may be thinking of A Good Day at White Rock. The actor James Callahan played the sheriff in that first season episode and was also in a recent episode that was on this past week. Not sure if that was who you were thinking of?

Slightly off topic, please humour me, but - what's the hierarchy with American law enforcement? Sheriffs and deputies, standard police officers, state police, federal law enforcement - even Texas Rangers! I think I get the state and federal representation, but the rest is slightly baffling. How do you know who to call? :?

You call your Local. I live in Fulton so I would call the Fulton Police Department.

It breaks down basically by how much coverage the individual division has.

Fulton Police would cover the City of Fulton only.

Next would be the County Sheriffs Department. They would cover the entire County. Fulton is one city in the county there is also Phoenix, Oswego. Mexico and some others. They each have their own police like Fulton.

The we have the State Police which cover the whole State of New York
NY has probably 20 something counties maybe more.

Hope that helps, it might make you more confused though.

I'll see if I can support and expand this:

Local Police Officers - Just the city or town.

Sheriff - County and Villages that do not have a local police force

State Police - Jurisdiction: Entire State, especially outlying from the established cities or towns.

Then beyond that, we have:

Federal Marshals - They are federal, cross state lines, and work in general conjunction with the local and state authorities in cases that cross state boundaries.

FBI - Like the Fed Marshals, but handle matters of national security as well as higher profile cases.

There are others beyond that, but for the most part, that is law enforcement in a slight nutshell.

That's actually quite straight forward! Thanks for indulging me. But ... Who are those Texas Rangers?

The Texas Rangers serve in pretty much the same capacity as the State Police. :)

It's ok, it's not totally off topic, after all, that is what the Foundation was all about!

Not to mention, I don't mind a little OT meanderings if it is educational, must be the teacher that has been beaten into me. ;)

Yea, It's funny, Actor's name is John Crawford

Post by 3rings » Tue May 06, 2003 9:40 am

Sometimes I like to edit episodes and take out a recurring guest star that plays as two different characters, I know that Universal and the others were on a budget, But only bring the same actor or actress back in a future episode as the same character.

Whoops!!! I was wrong!!!

Post by 3rings » Tue May 06, 2003 10:02 am

I was thinking of John Crawford as the villian sherriff in A Nice Indecent Little Town and then he played Mac in Knightracer.

the one actor I remembered in Not A Drop To Drink was a villian, and later played the villian Grant in Halloween Knight.

:D
