NBC provided Knight Rider with a big budget to keep it up and for the first three seasons the show was doing quite well. Although, in order to keep the show on top the network had to constantly provide the producers with a substantial budget to maintain the quality and despite the Friday night slots and an additional $250 000 worth of improvements to the 4th season vehicle the viewers were starting to drop out and the ratings declined which resulted in the shows cancellation in 1986.
Michael: Kitt what matters to me is who you are not what you look like. Sure we don't have the car so we can't turbo boost so we can't go over 200 miles an hour but it was all icing on the cake anyway
