Most of us have watched Knight Rider and there's many ups and downs about the new series. I've read many posts about other people's opinions of the show. Some I agree and some I disagree. I figured it was time for me to come out of the closet and state my opinion. I can only hope GST will read this. This is what I really feel that will save the show. Im looking at this from a child's perspective and adult perspective.
KITT DRIVING:
NUMBER ONE IMPORTANT RULE... When Michael Knight is unable to drive Kitt, KITT SHOULD BE DRIVING, unless otherwise someone else needs to drive KITT for a good reason. Thats what grabbed out attention from the backdoor Pilot and original series. Kitt drove a lot which is fun and exciting. The Pilot episode was missing what KITT can do, crash through walls, and turbo boost. Congradulations to GST to bring back Turbo Boost. It can be fixed to look better down the road on the show.
TEAMWORK:
Another thing, its okay to have a team help Michael Knight on his missions. Thats what happened in the original when sometimes when Devon and Bonnie/April got involved once in a while. I have no problem with that situation, but EVERY EPISODE in this series, they're helping Michael Knight and getting involved. That needs to change if they want to keep this theme "ONE MAN CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE". Before GST took over the show, I think the original writer was headed in the right direction in the backdoor pilot but they had to leave a lot of empty holes between the old Knight Rider series and the backdoor pilot so if its a successful revival, then they can start filling in the blanks from there on in the new series.
TRANSFORMATION:
I honestly don't know what is the best way to transform KITT from normal to attack mode. I wasn't all that impressed from the pilot episode how they did it and Im still not all that impressed with this show's new style transformation because its way too much like from the movie Transformer. The backdoor pilot style looked too fake except when the wheel turned from silver to black. I was impressed with that one only. The rest, it appeared like the parts of the car started to appear and disappear. It didn't rise from the body to shapeshift. It was a cheap way to transform. GST and VFX did okay with this transformation, but it needs to be toned down a little. I just feel it would be more believeable and work better if the attack body would grow or pop out and shape into place and the spoiler would rise and the top part of the spoiler would shapeshift into a different spoiler. Less transformation compared to the real Transformers from the movie. So far I was more impressed with VIPER's transformation when the series was out.
POINT A TO B:
Im fine with the KittCave and the airplane they use to transport Kitt. But they need a on road mobile unit like the old Flag did with the Semi. I dont know if they have a limit on budget on what they can have for making this series, but its a nice back-up to have if this location where the mission is so far away from their Knight Research hideout (KittCave).
Important message regarding sex and crime:
A lot of people are already complaining about how much sexual scenes are in there and some viewers can't watch it with their kids because of it. Tone that down tremendiously and keep it simple like the old times. Dont get me wrong, I think the girls are hot and Sarah...WOW! But think about whats more important? Sex or the point of the series? As far as Crime goes, I think you guys are doing a great work so far. I have no complaints. I know it takes time to make the show more interesting from one episode to another.
KITT'S VOICE BOX AND ON WINDSHIELD SCREEN TECH.
Nice work on improving Kitt's voice mod. Im very impressed with the upgrade and seeing the 3 bars. It brought back a warm feeling from the old series. That made everyone happy. I strongly feel the special effects on the windows was a big mistake. Yes its an amazing technology, but its too much. If you kept the backdoor pilot I-POD style screen, it would look better without all that crap on the screen that can interfere with your eyes on the road. If you kept that IPOD style with the new voice box, I think it would be far much more believeable and a close feeling to the old dash from the old KITT
. They did that similar window idea for Knight Rider 2000 movie and nobody was impressed with it regardless of the computer graphic skill we had back in 1990's.KITT'S SCANNER:
What can I say, you kept the original scanner sound. You rock!
LASTLY, as far from what you did with the show, you guys did a good job and I wish you all the best and keep surprising us. I know you all try to make everyone happy and bring in new attractions to watch this show. Just try to tone down on some stuff. I hope you take this post as a positive feedback and make some changes down the road. I strongly believe that is what will save Knight Rider from getting cancelled.
