I'm kinda wishing they hadnt made the new car a Shelby. I have no objection to the car being the Mustang, it looks good but I got a daft idea in my head that it wouldnt have been too much of a leap to have the badge on the car morphing from the "mustang" when in standard "hero car" mode to the much missed "knight" when changing into the Attack Kitt. It would still have been a horse instead of the cobra on the shelby.
Bearing in mind that the attack mode car in reality is not a shelby at all... (i remember one of the contributors to this board saying about the engine of the Attack Kitt sounding less impressive, think it was jaimetheking as he lives nearby)

I thought the same.
The standard Mustang even looks sleeker because the hood is not so high and the front grill is smaller and has a different shape. And does not have the matt black stripes.

But it's obvious why they chose the Shelby GT500 KR. The car is new in 2008 and the show shall promote it.
My hope is that when the show gets into the second or third season and the new 2010 Mustang is available, they will update KITT to promote the car. And what I've read and seen so far from the new Mustang, it will be sleeker and look smaller, even if it has the same dimensions as the actual model.
Well, lets wait and see.
