Sue's Comic Con Videos.

Post by Sue » Sat Jul 26, 2008 7:05 pm

The process has been torturously slow. But I finally have my first video up. Unfortunately it might be the least interesting. Neil had just finished asking Deanna some questions and I was just chit chatting about how we all were originally from NJ. Then I got her autograph as well as GSTs and Justin’s. (I had used a crayon to take a rubbing of KITT’s tire. ) :D

I had wondered how you got that :? , the image of KI3T driving over the piece of paper didn't seem quite right :D

Yes, we didn’t catch KITT signing it on camera. But it’s always a good idea to ask a cars permission before sticking your fingers under his tires. He didn’t mind but he said it tickled.
SHADO was a little jealous, and none too happy about his stay in a parking garage. He was so mad at me he refused to talk to Mike P when he was introduced.

 That's pretty cool, glad you had a good time.
The new and again improved evil's advertisement is currently too long and too badass to display here. But let's just say that with now 50% more evil, this **** is great! :skar:

I'm really surprised security didn't catch you down underneath KITT - but nice determination and success with it! Everyone seemed to get a kick out of your uniqueness.

Suspension of disbelief Neil. When I said I asked, I meant I asked NBC if it would be okay. But it’s fun to think that what I meant was I asked KITT.
Thanks! The cast really did seem to get a kick out of it.

well of course I knew you didn't ask KITT - I thought it was more in relation to how you play about talking with Shado :)

Yeah!! Another video has uploaded.
Here is Justin Bruening talking a little bit about KITT and Comic Con. I’m not sure who’s asking the questions, I was distracted by Justin’s Cuteness.

The highlight of the panel discussion was a part that your modest mods almost forgot to tell you, until I made them!!! But here it is no denying it. Gary Scott Thompson admits to dropping in on Knight Rider Online in front of a hall packed with thousands of people. :D There are a few other little shockers in this clip as well. :karr:

Whoo! More videos!

I think that as long as they get the basics of the original's history right that's agreed upon by most KR fans I don't think i, such as GST's mentioning of KITT and whether or not it was Michael Long's car (it wasn't, IIRC) and try hard to avoid the temptation to revise things or try to poke holes into something that don't really exist. I think most of it is simple enough to do from just watching the show and taking notes, I'm sure if there's something that is in big need of clarification there's someone, some nerd(s), they could consult, just to get it right. A part of me even wishes Larson or other people involved with the original show were on board to do some of that. Then again, Gene Roddenberry was a "consultant" of the original Star Trek but they pretty much ignored him, heh. Though there's probably a difference there as TNG took place far enough after the original series that they didn't need to rely on it so much.

If there's potential gaps here and there they could fill in then by all means, just as long as it isn't something that leads to contradictions, granted the original show had it's own occasional issues with that but I'd assume that was just errors on their part and not intentional. Since there's not huge amount of canon when it comes to other stories (at least that matter) outside the original series, they have a pretty big canvas, even more so when it comes to the last 22 years since the show ended.

Would it be fair to say that the majority of us would prefer that KR2000 and TKR are ignored? There's certainly a balancing act that needs to be done and honestly, I wouldn't blame them for not catering to the original, core KR fans too much since that sort of thing would not attract the new viewers and probably do more to lose an audience and we all know the show desperately needs to bring in new people who may have never seen a single episode of the original Knight Rider. Just toss an occasional bone here and there to keep us happy, maybe an episode or two per season that are mythology heavy along with the occasional references here and there. I just hope it doesn't go too far to where it starts to alienate or completely piss off those of us that have stuck with it from either the original airings or the reruns in syndication. Granted we're not even close to Star Trek, but there still needs to be that strong core audience, the casual viewer isn't going to cut it and Star Trek has had so many shows and movies that have brought that franchise so many opportunities to capture new fans, not to mention maintained at least for the most part a pretty good quality when it comes to the TV shows, even the hated ones aren't that bad are they? There's a balance to this as well as other aspects to the show that needs to be found, I doubt it'll happen within the first handful of episodes, maybe not even in the first 13, but hopefully it will have the chance to get there.

I'm sure I and others will be here Wednesday night of the premiere with something to complain about, but that's just the way things are. What matters is that there's things we like as well and the next week and the week after and so on are able to improve upon what was done the week before it. I think it's important not to go in expecting too much, especially right out of the gate like what happened with the TV movie and some people expecting an explanation for everything that's happened since 1986 upto the present and where everyone was even though it wouldn't have made sense to give all that stuff away if there was a chance for a TV series.

 I wrote waaaay too much again and I said I needed sleep in my last post.. I really do need to get some...

Comic Con Panel Part 2
Now I’m not allowed to show you the clip they showed us, but it was very similar to the one up on NBC.com. But I did want to let you listen in to the end because you can hear the crowd go nuts when KITT transforms and then you can hear their cheers at the end. It was really cool to watch the clip with a whole room of excited people. I think when we see the completed show it will be just as exciting. The minor details that we are focusing on now wont matter once we get involved in the story and the action.
