Hasselhoff's support

Post by tamatt27 » Sat May 31, 2008 4:38 pm

I just watched the video of Hasselhoff's support for KR08. He says "Give the new Knight Rider and that new kid Jason a chance". His name's Justin, David  Still...glad to hear of his support.
KNIGHT RIDER RELOADED is a series of movies on Youtube to represent a different creative avenue to the Knight Rider we knew in 2008-09.

Yeah we noticed that over here,

But, I will say, it still kinda bugs me a little.
Whether or not that WENN article with him badmouthing the show is true or not -if that video was made in response to it, then it wasn’t really good enough. I mean really, “That kid Jason.” No, sorry David, that’s just not good form. It’s really rather disrespectful.
(Oh and it’s a good thing his car drives itself, cause, yeesh, does this guy ever stop drinking.)

I am bracing myself for all of Europe disagreeing with me on this one, but that’s were I stand.

its probably an honest mistake, hasselhoff looks really busy, maybe he forgot his name, it happens. he probably has a lot on his mind.

I think it's clearly an honest mistake as I commented on in another thread. What's important is that Hasselhoff is apparently in support of the new project, which of course makes it more likely for him to return.

It's not a big deal. People in busy, hectic environments forget names all the time. When I attend the annual Transformers convention, it's so hustle and bustle some of my closest friends and I have called each other incorrect names in the spur of the moment - usually resulting in much laughter. This is no different.

Come on! He was either drunk or told by the producers that he was going to have the role of his dreams after all. I mean, at first he was really upset with how the pilot turned out and now, just a few months later he's exploding out of excitement for the new series.

Despite all the critisism the producers received from the pilot they're still convinced to follow the same pattern with some superficial changes to the car. We have to accept that Hasselhoff is more or less gone from the show and the new Kitt is inevitably a Mustang, period.
Michael: Kitt what matters to me is who you are not what you look like. Sure we don't have the car so we can't turbo boost so we can't go over 200 miles an hour but it was all icing on the cake anyway

It's been pretty much concluded that the original article was a fake. Even if those were comments that David Hasselhoff actually made, they're irrelevant now. It also wouldn't be wise for him to condemn the entire production because it would not only exclude him from reprising his favorite role in the future, but would be a big blow to the Knight Rider community, especially since he won't be appearing in the feature film. We should all be happy that he supports the new production whether he ends up being included a lot, a little, or not at all.

I wouldn't agree that's quite accurate. Yes, there will be a new version of the Attack car, but there will also be a whole new team of writers and time for revisions, unlike the backdoor pilot which only had one writer and no opportunity for revisions (unless things had to be cut for budgetary/time reasons). Although Gary Scott Thompson wrote the recent 42-car pileup that is 88 Minutes, I have faith that he will be able to steer this series in a new direction, especially since he wasn't pleased with the backdoor pilot himself.

True, but that's the best way of opposing this new line production! Let's not forget, Hasselhoff was the only one with Knight Rider in his head (except from the fans) when it took it's final course in 1991 (Knight Rider 2000). He was determined to revive the whole franchise and bring back that old action series we all cancelled our daily agendas to watch. I wouldn't be surprised if someone would come to me and say that he was upset with his role in the pilot. Whether that is the case or not doesn't matter now, it's history and for what it's worth I hope they can find it in themselves to give this star of the 80's and 90's a chance to get his will through before he must retire for good.

I think it's important to keep in mind that Hoff doesn't really need to support the new show if he doesn't want to. He has a recording career and "America's got talent" under his belt right now, so the guy is hardly not working. If he wanted to throw his hands up and walk away from KR08 he could. The fact that he's not doing that is a good sign. Also, considering this new show has a mostly new writing staff and a proven producer, I think it's cause for optimism on his part.
