Michael Long's family history was never mentioned in TOS

But as MTraceur is MKs son, his blood is LONG not knight. In the KR08 pilot MT was told MK was his father but surely there needs to be some kind of 'chat' where MK explains his own past as ML and what Wilton Knight did with him back in the early 1980s.

Traceur doesnt seem to be inquisitive in the way that MK is. He seems more reactive than proactive in his approach to situations so perhaps wont question why MK never exsisted before 1982 (remember the 4th b'day episode with the hovercraft).

Question, did Jennifer know MK's past? Im still curious about the phrase 'loved you from the first day...' as if MT only MET Jennifer at some point but isnt biologically related so it would be a good storyline for MT to actually look in to his family history. This way we could find out more about ML and who MT's mother really was, especially if the plan for season long story arcs comes in to the new series.

What would be really cool is to find out KI3Ts lineage, looking back through ALL of FLAG's A.I development, including KITT and KARR (which could lead to the much requested new KARR storyline...)

There is an episode where Michael explains that his father died and he spent the whole night shooting baskets to numb himself from the pain. We know he listened to rock 'n roll, drove a '57 Chevy, served time in Viet Nam where he got the head injury that required the metal plate in his head, and was engaged to Stephanie Mason, but I believe that's about all we know about Michael Long. So yeah, I don't believe we know much about his actual family history.

That's because he's a reluctant hero whose life is out of control and he's been uncontrollably thrust into a new situation. By the end of the movie, he's of course accepted the job as the new operative to drive K.I.T.T., so I would expect that he will become a lot more like Michael once the series starts.

There is no way to know for sure. Although I think Jennifer was more than a one night stand Michael had, according to Mike Traceur's driver's license, he was born in June of 1983, which means that he had to have been conceived in October of 1982. The original series begins in August of 1982, so there obviously couldn't have been much of a relationship between Jennifer and Michael. I suspect their "relationship" occurred during the missions in-between "Knight Of the Phoenix" and the first regular episode, "Deadly Maneuvers."
