Back in 1982, viewers could write to the show and in return, the show would send a "fan mail" package out, which included a signed photo of David Hasselhoff and an "autograph" of KITT - a tire tread on a piece of paper! I managed to obtain this very rare item recently and thought I'd share:
It also has Patricia McPherson's autograph on the outside, along with a drawing of her! I've never seen this item before!
Wow, very very cool. I hear about it now then, so I could never quite tell how jsut how popular the show was in its heyday. But there certainly was a lot of advertising and paraphenalia.
And is that the flat bumper on KITT you see occasionally in the first season?
Michael: "KITT! Where are ya?!"
K.I.T.T.: "I'm in your parking space, Michael, where else would I be?"
It's a new one to me... cool. I wonder if items like this were advertised through local newspapers and TV stations (rather than nationally) and so not everybody heard about them at the time.
