Communicate to a friend like Michael Knight!

Post by jup » Mon Jan 20, 2003 11:34 pm

A week ago, I was at a local Wal-Mart and I saw these new watches that had built-in Walkie-Talkie radios. They claimed to have over a mile range and they didn't have an external antenna.

Now, the watches are a little larger than the one envisioned in KR. But, the basic idea is there. Since I was in line when I saw these, I didn't get a chance to look at them too much.

Yeah, I found one of these little beauties myself and rigged it up so I could voice activate my own car, using a modified prototype from the Danish pilot project to control the vehicle itself. Unfortunately, my arch enemy Garth4ever surrepticiously recorded some of my dialogue with GITT (my pride and joy) and used it in conjunction with his own watch to hijack my vehicle, killing several innocent pedestrians in the process. I think there's a lesson to be learned here about the abuse of technology, and I urge you to be careful in the application of your new toy!!!

WOW thats sounds way cool, i would love 2 get 1 for myself, btw cornelius if ur assosiate has attempted 2 frame u, u ought inform the police immediatly as 2 avoid ne confusion, as they can easily trace u ( wot with modern phorensics etc.. ) otherwise u may get in alot of trouble. Just my thoughts :)

Yes, Neil. I'm pretty sure that's the same watch I was referring to. It looks like the dimensions and the range are correct. And, that logo looks familliar.

Anyone ever heard of Dick Tracy? :) They had that idea decades ago! :) Just my $.02. Still a cool idea though.

Oh, we're pretty sure that the idea has been around for a very long time, but they haven't been a public reality until lately.

They didn't work for beans, and for the most part, they were just simple little toys, these new things are pretty close to the real thing.

Come to think of it...

...perhaps those tiny Walkie Talkies, as seen in Back To The Future II, will become a reality, after all.

Umm.. tiny walkie talkies in BTTF2? There were normal sized ones... I guess I'm not sure what ones you're talking about....
