The creator of "Star Trek", Mr Gene Roddenberry passed awayFuzzieDice wrote: I know DeForrest Kelly died a few years ago.
Wasn't there one other that passed away recent
besided him and Mr. Doohan?
a while back as well. Now that you mention it, someone else
had asked me a few months back if one of the crew of
NCC 1701 & NCC 1701-A had also passed away -
they thought it was Leonard Nimoy (Spock).
I looked through various websites and found no one else
from the Star Trek cast had recently passed away at that time.
KIRK: "Scotty?"
SCOTTY: "Aye Sir,"
KIRK: "Did you find the engine room?"
SCOTTY: "Right where I left it, Sir!"
STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY
Rest In Peace "Scotty". He has now been beamed up
to the big Starship Engine Room in the sky.

This was a personal loss for me. I first met Jimmy at a STAR TREK convention in Washington D.C. in January 1976. I was 16. It was the greatest thing for me. While others wanted to be Captain Kirk, I wanted to be Scotty. Over the years I met him at many other conventions, and I even got to hang out with him at some private parties. I eventually started to emcee and do stand up at conventions. It was a boost to perform in front of the actors I considered my heroes. Jimmy even gave me a handwritten personal reference.
The last time I saw him was about 3 years ago at Dragon Con in Atlanta. Seeing his condition broke my heart. He was no longer walking, but getting around on one of those scooter things. It took about 5 minutes to get him from the scooter to his chair at the autograph table. I waited till he had a break from signing autographs and stepped up to say hello. He remembered me and we had a few minutes. After I walked away, I felt that was the last time I would ever see him.
James Doohan will always be remembered to the world as Scotty from STAR TREK. And that was just fine with him. He realized that there were many actors that work their whole lives in show business, and aren't remembered for anything. I never saw him refuse an autograph or to pose for a picture. As long as I'm around, he will not be forgotten.

I found out today, and the first thought in my mind was "Another Star Trek regular and Knight Rider guest is gone".
Thank you for touching all our lives with your portrayal of a modern-day icon, Mr. Doohan.
As for your question, Lyn. Was that a live-action series? I remember a cartoon set in space with a character named Jason and a robot that narrated the story, but I'm probably thinking of a different series.

He stared as Commander Canarvin in Season 1.
It's a spinnof of Space Academy and even had Peepo the Robot in it. I didn't realize that. I had watched Space Academy a lot as a kid and loved that little robot.

I did get to see Jimmy at a Star Trek convention in Norfolk, Virginia back in 1994. He explained how he became the beloved Scotish Enginerring Chief. It will be a big loss.
