How did they make the models fly through the air, I was looking at the section of generalleefanclub.com and it seems like they just through the cars. However The DOH producers seemed more careless with their models than Universal. I guess they did that because they were running out of Dodge Chargers to Smash up. And if im not mistaken The Fall Guy used models as well. Colt's truck looked like a Tonka Truck lol :D

Very good modeling work, KnightDriver!!

This is exactly what I'm attempting with the 1/25th ERTL KITT and KIFT, but I'm also gonna have the doors open up.
If you don't make a difference, you are not the Knight Rider.

KnightDriver's model is one of the things that makes me wish that AMT/ERTL or Revell would do the 1982-1985 Trans-Am models again.

Well, unfortunately, My model isn't even a Pontiac, I was a camaro.
I wish they made a huge Trans Am model like that but the biggest
Pontiac kit I have seen is 1/16 or 1/18th.

My model is 1/8th scale. Measures out at about 2 feet long. Once I
move into our new shop, I plan on doing an even bigger version when
time allows. But again, time will tell.

You've making a pretty goodlooking KITT model, KnighDriver. In fact, it's the second KITT model that I've seen online that was made by a 1/8th scale model Camaro. "Starship Modeler" had another one there, though you could easily tell it was modified from the original Camaro (the front of the car wasn't properly shaped for a Trans-Am, and still had that 1984 Camaro fender shape). I've also come across a site that had a 1/16th scale KITT model that someone made before AMT/ERTL created the KITT model back in 1983.

I'm just saying that your model makes me wish that Revell or AMT/ERTL would do the 80s Trans-Am model reprints so that a lot of fans could do their own KITT conversions, like you have (though they'd be at 1/25 scale). Could you imagine how many fans would buy them to do the customizations? TBH, I had a dream of being online and finding a resin site that was selling the KITT nose and Ram-Air hood pieces for 1982 Trans-Am model cars. Makes me wish there was one, you know?

Well,

I hate to tell you the one that was on starship modeler in the past was
my first one. And it was done the same way and from the same kit.
The new one I did I put alot more effort into it but it is still just the
camaro models body. I just modified the hood and nose as well as
the rear of the car. The inside is where I went crazy on.

I to wish they would come out with a decent sized Trans Am model.
I have been thinkning about grabbing one of the new die cast 1/18th
scale KITTs and redoing one of them more accurately. Again, as time
and money allows.

You did the Camaro modified KITT model on Starship Modeler? Cool. Still good work, though.

I plan on grabbing atleast two more diecast kitts and doing them into 3/4 th season with dash mods and making one into a primered up junkyard dog!, but by the time I get done trying build every version I might end up atleast 7 or 8 cars total!.....I already got thirtteen 1/25 scale size models built and 3 more to go...and all those are all 3/4th season and the hard part is only two of them are S.P.M. kitts!...which are almost done!

Does anybody know where I can find an after-markit dash for the 3rd-4th season? One idea I have also is to build a KITT in SPM, but that's further down the road as far as my modeling projects go.

for what size model???......a 1/25 scale has to be modded and anything else larger must be built from scratch unless you plan to mod one from a kenner kitt like I did!

Yeah, that was me. It was a few yaers ago and they have since removed
it. My new one has alot more effort put into it though. The other one
was a quick modify and everything was just painted. My new one is
fully lit and uphoulstered on the interior. I will be bringing it to the
Foundations replica gathering in June for those interested in seeing it
as well as some other projects I am currently working on for KR fans.

Cool beans. I'm sure a lot of fans are going to like looking at it. I won't be surprised if a few of them will ask you if you sell aftermarket KR model parts so that they could do one. You do have skills.

For the update from the SM KITT model, I understand having to work up from your previous modeling experiences. For example, I glued down the hood on my Domino model, and I did it again for my Niobe's Firebird model, seeing that I thought, "Seeing we never see the engines on screen, why be able to see the engines on the models?"

Right now, I am trying to figure out how I'm going to use putty to modify the front of another 1999 Trans-Am diecast model I bought that I plan on modifying into a modernized KITT and I am also working on a '98 Mustang Cobra model. And I have recently bought a Shelby Series 1 and a '92 Cougar XR-1 model (I had plans on modding the Cougar to make it a Police car, but realized that i may endup turning it into a Florida Hightway patrol car, seeing that they have a 1999 Camaro is in use). I'm also working on an original item model called "Deus Ex Machina", based off a design for a device from a series of stories I came up with that involde the collision of fiction and reality. "Deus Ex Machina" is one of the devices featured in a story (or two, seeing that I came up with an idea for a followup to it).

Well,

Not to get to far ahead of meself here, I am planning on offering (soon)
aftermarket kits for the 1/25th scale KITT models by AMT/ERTL. I have
already finsihed up the master parts for the 4th season dash and am
doing the final touches on the 4th season nose. You will also see
convertable pieces following that.

I currently work in the hobby industry. I am a product designer for
a major model Railroad manufacturer here in state. We do 100%
accurate scaled railroad cars and buildings. Being 1:87th scale you
can amigine the detail work that has to go inot those. 1:25th and
higher should be a breeze.

I am currently opeing my own shop in the coming weeks as well.
On top of modeling and film props, we are doing full scale KITT
replicas too. We have already began construction on our 2002
full sized KITT deisgn (as seen on my site) We hre hoping to bring
this car, as well as a ton of other props, to the knight rider even
this june in Carlsile PA.

Once we take full possesion of the shop, you will see things become
available soon afterwards. I for one and really gung ho on the models
as they never released the later version of KITT. Just waiting on the
final OK to move everything in and getting to work on it all.

 Wow.... I wish you luck on your projects and goals. I can't wait to check out the aftermarket pieces if you do them. I may even buy a couple of the dashes to put into my modernized KITT and KARR models.

TBH, I'm considering on turning the "Model Kar Conversion" post I did here on the boards into a webpage on my site, though I'm not really sure about it. I'm still trying to find a theme to do for my site's redesign.

And correction to my last post: The Cougar is a RX-7, not an RX-1.

Also, remember that KITT model I told you about, the one that was made from a Trans-Am kit and that the person making it did it before the release of the MPC model? I've found the site again. I originally posted the link on the board a while ago. It's made from Revell's 1/16th scale Trans-Am: http://katmeyer.serverpro2.com/Other_In ... rider.html

Knightdriver, your post almost had me jump outta my seat!! That's just the kind of news I needed to hear!!
I'm planning some major modifications for my KITT & KIFT. Both are the ERTL 1/25th scale models, but I'm doing something completely different to the dashboards.
I'm looking at molding the dash in a clear resin, and then using some beads-of-wheat bulbs behind the dash. I don't really think it's wise to use fiber-optics for the dash because it doesn't look too real. If you have any pictures of any after-market parts, I gotta see them!!!
If you don't make a difference, you are not the Knight Rider.

I'll be sure to post pictures of everything when they are complete.

In my larger 1:8th scale KITT I used 12 volt colored leds behind
the print out display panels. The panels where printed with the colored
areas on them, I then blacked out the back of the panels so light
would not pass through the unwanted area,s. The colored leds would
then light up the pre colored area for a nice effect.

Again, If I can get some really good pictures, I'll be sure to post them.
Getting photo's of this thing lit up is tough, they never come out to good.

I'll work on it though. Keep you all updated on their progress.
