Re: Anybody got Diamond Select Karr??
I don't know if it's different across the pond (Im in the US) but I have both dst k.a.r.r. and the 1/18 k.a.r.r. on preorder still. My last email said that hotwheels karr is due out sometime this month (not definite) and the dst karr is out in the spring. now, having said that, those are dates just posted by companies as tentative dates and not really the actual release month. for example, many sites had the michael knight/kitt entertainment earth due in dec. and it wasn't released until after the new year. i think the best bet would be to contact diamond select and ask them if they were released so you weren't getting scammed. as far as i know though the dst k.a.r.r. hasn't been released.

Re: Anybody got Diamond Select Karr??
The 1:15 DST KARR is shipping to US comic shops tomorrow, although some may have it already. I do not know for sure about UK retailers, but if Amazon UK has them, that's a good sign (unless it's a US retailer selling on Amazon UK).
Sorry I haven't been able to share any videos of KARR, I haven't had a final sample to play with, and I didn't want to show off an unfinished one. But I can see from this packaged sample that it looks like we were able to add the silver wheel edging:

Re: Anybody got Diamond Select Karr??
I've had mine this morning..
I don't think that they've used the original Voice like they have with Kitt…
As you have probably noticed from the picture posted above, Karr seems to come in the Kitt box…
Biggest gripe I have is the right quarter light has white on it where its not been painted property, I don't know if this would be arun of manufacturing flaws or just a few..
Its not bad but not brilliant overall….
For the imperfections and the laziness of not doing a box for Karr, I give it 7/10

Seriously? They just got some guy to do the voice instead of using lines from TDR or KVK?whet wrote:I've had mine this morning..

Yes, packaging is modified KITT packaging. Just trying to keep the price on all of the vehicles down by sharing wherever possible. KARR dialogue is listed on top, though.

Re: Anybody got Diamond Select Karr??
I just received mine!
The voice is okay for an imitation. It is neither Paul Frees or Cullen. I believe that the voice modulator is supposed to be yellow and it is green here. Also not too keen on the flashing red monitors but I guess it adds to the "evilness."

So they can use KITT's real voice but not KARR's? The comic con KARR also used an imposter, I wonder if it's the same guy?

Re: Anybody got Diamond Select Karr??
I remember months ago they showed us a preview of the exterior and I had to correct the grey lines around the wheel well top half of the car. They looked into it and said it wasn't as thick but I really wish they would have rushed this past me.The voicebox is so bad it sounds like someone used the oldest batteries they could find and thats why the voice was so weak but the speed of the clips is normal.Quality control must have taken a nosedive.I understand reusing the same box but wrong colored voicebox and evil red monitors and worst of all the voice clips aren't from the show like the first car they produced.

Re: Anybody got Diamond Select Karr??
DS are not planning to make many of KARR, so I was told. I guess that's why they didn't put as much effort into it's creation as they did with KITT.
I would keep the original packaging if I were you as KARR could become a collector's item in the not too distant future.

Re: Anybody got Diamond Select Karr??
Mine arrived today. The scanner sound is really great. It obviously has some flaws in the paint, and so on, but for the price, it's pretty well made, and it completes the trio.

Re: Anybody got Diamond Select Karr??
Universal does not own the rights to Paul or Peter's voices, so they were not available to us. The voice we used was our best available option -- there is nothing wrong with the chip, it's just a deep voice. Sorry some people don't like it.

I was wondering why the green voicebox and the red monitors?

Re: Anybody got Diamond Select Karr??
It's been depicted as slightly greenish-yellow, but I think we went full green to differentiate it even more from KITT.
As far as the monitors, you'd have to ask KARR what he was watching on TV. Probably something bloody.

Re: Anybody got Diamond Select Karr??
I looked at Toys R Us for this, the same place that I got KITT from, however, they do not sell it. I went to diamond's site, and it's more money then what KITT was. Any ideas why KARR is more money?

Re: Anybody got Diamond Select Karr??
I just received mine today off of Amazon.com. Overall, I think it makes a nice display piece and toy. Like everyone else, I think the green voice modulator is irritating, especially when a decal of the correct color actually comes with the car. I am a bit confused as to why there's the extra dashboard stickers and I used them but they don't seem to make any difference on the look since it's still tough to see the details.
Random question: Why are amber/orange LEDs always used for K.A.R.R. models and not yellow ones? Are there less of those available? I bought some and soldered them into my old JoyRide die-cast K.A.R.R. The amber color actually looks better on this model than previous ones, though.
Yes, it's disappointing that a different voice had to be used other than Peter Cullen or Paul Frees, but it's not Diamond Select's fault for that. I'd rather have K.A.R.R. still say phrases than nothing at all and the impersonator doesn't sound all that different. If anything, it lends a little consistency to the phrases as opposed to having one from Cullen, another from Frees, etc.
Couldn't care less about the recycled K.I.T.T. box; it's just a box and not important to me. I see why the cowl induction hood doesn't naturally blend into the curvature and why the scanner is a bit distanced from directly underneath the hood, since they recycled these pieces from their Super Pursuit Mode car and had to keep costs down. It doesn't hurt the look of the car, overall, in my opinion.
The car really does look great sitting there as a display piece, I must say. Kudos to Diamond Select for getting the paint job right. I'm glad I bought this and it's a solid toy. I'm waiting for my Super Pursuit Mode car in the mail and I'm going to put in an order for K.I.T.T. as well.
