Reproducing Artwork

Post by Knight Racer » Sat Jan 04, 2014 3:46 am

Have you ever seen a piece of art and wanted to challenge yourself to see if you could reproduce it with different images?I took the parker brother KR game and gave it a shot.I found that some of the images were taken from promotional pictures and one from the voice car.

Hey Knight Racer, have you thought to reproduce a Knight Rider lunch box artwork like this one?

No I haven't but that would make an interesting next project to work on.

Great job! I wonder if the original Devon, Michael and one of the KITT dashes were actually hand drawings or traced ones? KITT looks also it may been compiled from voicecar and real Trans-Am, windscreen and side window look very authentic compared to voicecar. The nose looks very strange too, like it's a compilation of the Pilot nose and ordinary KITT nose.
Have been thinkin about taking photos about my KITT model reproducing some of the promo shots, for example KITT in the forest with popup headlights open. Can't do it now in winter but perhaps next summer...

Thanks

Since the leftmost picture of Michael and Kitt came from a promotional picture they retraced or drew I can assume that the rest came from other promo stills too.The Devon picture either came from this shot I used which had to be flipped horizontally or this other one.

I can't tell which shot was used for the dash.It was also very hard to pinpoint which picture they used for Michael staring straight forward like that so I had to get one close enough. The scanner and Knight 2000 lettering on the side of the driverside door do lead you to believe they used a voice car for the model.I'm not sure how they used it since Kenner made the voice car.

I think the forrest shot you mean to duplicate is this one:

Yes, that's the pic I had in mind :)
I can't remember what episode that original Michael Knight pic is from but I think that's excellent shot of him. Thought it might be from White Bird, the final scene where he tells KITT about the necklace but perhaps not after all.

Just checked that scene.Couldn't see it coming from there.I took mine off of Bothers Keeper.I figured the hair length was longest in the begining of season 2 Goliath so I found it right after that episode to match the Parker Brothers rendering.

Kittfan,I just foudn the same image from a different perspective.Might be the same car used for the same pictures since the scanner is in the exact same led thats lit in the sequence and the turn signal light or breka light is covered with the same tinted panel. As well as having the car's tires turned in the same direction.

Thanks KnightRacer :) Very nice photo, haven't seen this one before. Love the reflections on KITT's paint & windshield.
Hopefully I could achieve something like this with the model next summer.
