My Trans Am

Post by ScottyMan82 » Fri Jan 25, 2013 6:01 pm

I got a 1982 Trans Am like KITT. Except it has black interior but it has the original wheels . I lost the front right hubcap unfortunately. I'm trying to find an original cap to replace the missing one. It's hard and it's expensive too. Anyone know anywhere online where I can find one for a good price?

Do you have 14 or 15" Turbo Cast on your T/A ??

I have 2 15" GM caps on the way.

What's your budget ?? And take in mind these are getting EXTREMELY hard to find !!!! :shock: :shock:

So if your on a TIGHT budget,Then aftermarket caps might be your only choice :good:

I actually found 1 original cap on ebay and a bunch of replicas too. I might go for the original and find a way to make it stay on the wheel. Are zip ties my only option?

lol @ Zip Ties. Wheel hub caps are the hardest thing to attach to the wheel and unless they are metal zip locks I doubt they will last very long as the plastic breaks pretty easily over time and sun exposure. I would look into tapping into the wheel lugs and screwing them on with nice stainless steel button top screws or something that can make sure you never loose it without a huge amount of effort. It can be time consuming but I can bet zip ties are not the way to go. These hubcaps are getting hard to find because they fall off and when they go at speed they goooooooo. I think Chevy also makes threaded lug nuts that you can screw cap screws on but you will have to get sizing info and do some hunting. Good luck!

How do you post pics on here? I seem to have trouble finding a way to do it.

I love your T/A! Been wanting one myself for a very long time. I just don't have space for play car.

Very nice.

you need to put the link to the video in between the youtube tags like this:

1: take the link you wanna use for example this link to KITT in the GE commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6tAgUcuNN0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

2: remove all of the URL from the 'equal sign' back like this: M6tAgUcuNN0

3: copy paste the shorter part of the URL in between the youtube tags: M6tAgUcuNN0). if correctly done, you will see a screen shot of your video with a PLAY icon over the middle, if you click on it and the video plays, your good to go, just like the one below:

KITT: "I want custody of ME!"

It's Michael Long's Trans-Am!! :good: Honestly, that's a beautiful Trans-Am. Is it a well kept original or has it had some restoration work done to it?

It's all original paint. It hasn't had any work done to it but the paint is starting to crack a little bit. I might wait a couple of years and get a new black paint job. Thank you guys again for the nice compliments. :D

It's a great start for a KITT but a nice car in its own right!
