I finally bought the 1/24 Aoshima cars, KITT and KARR.
They are awesome!! Extremely detailed! Most of all scanners are real awesome!! An authentic scanning effect. They are built very simple as compared to the 1/18 scanner, and uses only 2 LR44 batteries. The 1/18 requires 4, and scan effect sucks!!
there was a site that sold the scanners separately for those who had the lower priced Aoshima models that did not have the scanner feature, and they can be used in the AMT/MPC Kitt models from the 80s as long as you do not want to have an engine in those models (the circuit board takes up the space of the engine bay). I saw a AMT Kitt model at a model show that had a Aoshima LED scanner and it was very cool when installed.
Michael: "You know, your as much fun as a divorce, which is not a bad idea!"
KITT: "I want custody of ME!"

I'll try and post pictures of the cars.
Hahaha.. Thats my video I uploaded at YouTube! Yeah I have both the scanners and the KITT model which is still not fixed up yet since getting it two years ago..hahaha..
Hi guys, would like to know what type of LEDs and what size they are on the aoshima 1/24 scale scanner unit. I need to replace them because they are orange instead of being continuous red colour. Any help would be great.
there's an ebay user that has the red Aoshima scanners for $20 plus shipping, and i so agree with the detail of the Aoshima models, just finished mine a couple of days ago, the scanner is near perfect!
once the model has been assembled and glued, how would you replace the LR44 batteries for the scanner once they run out. The hood I assume would be glue on and underneath is blocked. Any suggestions?

There is a screw on panel at the bottom where you can remove it and access the scanner chipboard where the batteries are. Pretty simple actually.

Thanks for reply. I looked all over the model especially on the bottom and I cant that unscrews. Are you sure you are referring to the plastic 1/24 aoshima models? If so, would you be able to send me an image of where it exactly unscrews?
