KITT early on had the red square flashing when he spoke, it was very quickly changed to 3 vertical moving red lines as he spoke.
KARR had a slightly different green lines talking dash.
I found it a bit of a plot hole that KARR an earlier production line model was using horizontal lines. You would expect KARR to have a green flashing square box.
I must say I much prefered the lines. I thought the box looked old and silly.

The three lines for me. It was just that little more interesting to look at.

Yes, Three line voice box looked alot better, More to it I guess.
I think I liked season 2 dash with 3 line voice box. I think it is the best combonation.
I am a huge Knight Rider fan, & always will be. Thanks G4 for relpaying them!

The 3 dancing columns let KITT have a little more expression, so I prefer the newer voice box. But I prefer the season 1-2 console (Air Oil S1 S2) over the later version (Alt Oil Press Aux Sat Com)

Three lines. I like both, but the S3/S4 one slightly over the S1/S2 three lines voice box.
If you'd be so kind as to put me down.

3 lines for me. Though I remember the top half and bottom half didn't always line up. It used to really bug me!

I definitely liked the Season 2 voicebox the best. Somehow, IMO, the 3/4 Season voicebox appears downplayed and more obsolete looking than the Season 2. As a matter of fact, even though they had this idea for iPhones and Jupiter Electronics, I wish they'd let this interactive idea of KITT & KARR's voiceboxes reacting to sound go to desktop and laptop computers as well. Now that would be cool as well as time and money saving for some people.

I think the 2nd season voice modulator was the best. The square brett, together with all season 1 KITT features, seemed to me like they were still hanging in the 70's. Season 2 just had the most 'quality' feeling overall, including the voicebox.

I liked the 3 line bar graph more.It looked more futuristic than a pulsating square.Although I do have to wonder where did they get the inspiration for it.Was it Hal9000?

Haha I was watching that movie yesterday. But anyways In my opinion if they would've kept the red square flashing the show wouldn't lasted to season 4

Honestly, the square voice modulator just looked cheap. In certain episodes of the first season before the change, it looked like a broken red light. The 3 lines seemed more modern, detailed and more refined.

3 lines. Especially the season 2 modulator. Gave KI2T more interaction with the audience.

Michael:“KITT I NEED YAH!”
Kitt:“ON MY WAY MICHAEL!”
