I'm pretty impressed with how good the scanner looks when scaled down to that size. We used to have toy cars that simply had a single red glowing light for the scanner - no motion at all. Science marches on!

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
My friends,
The nose of Hotwheels need to be more slim. This is clearly different of 1:1. Not the nose only, the body too. Out of scale.
What impresses me is that these makers have all of the most modern in tools, softwares. and don`t do the model correctly. I admit that this model is more more better than ERTL 1:18 (aberration of nature, awful), but not ideal yet. My friends, I´m a collector of scale model cars, not a toy collector. If the model is different of real scale, this is a toy.
I`m coverting a Revell Pontiac 1:16 to Knight Rider. I haven`t finished yet, but I show to you some pictures. Please, look at the nose. Can You feel the difference that I told?
When I will have finished the model, I will post for you more pictures.

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
To put it in one word, this model looks awesome! I'm excited by it's number of special features but it will be on the expensive side.
As for the scanner, there should be a "leading light" for the rest of the light trail to follow. For now, it's just one big glowing light so I hope they change that. Still, at least there is no blinking every time the light hits one side of the bar like it did in the ERTL model.

WOW! You did some GREAT work! Unbelievable how you turned that piece of wood into a nice looking and screen accurate KITT front nose. How long did you work on it? And what did you use as a reference?

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
Actually, I do!
If you can do it, Hotwheels should also have the ability to do it with so much expertise.
I know somebody on this forum is in contact with them. I don't know which stadium they are in at the moment, but they should consider (as it is an ELITE model) to take a closer look at the KITT front nose.
But anyway, I also LOVE the Hotwheels one, the details, and the time and care they took. You can see it right away (as a fan).
Hope they can do it for the frontnose too! It would make it even more outstanding!

You do realize that the nose on the Hot Wheels is a Season 1 and yours seems to be a Season 3 nose. And I am VERY impressed with your work on this. Amazing attention to detail. Excellent!

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
I like some Hotwheels models. Ferrari is good. McLaren not good. In general the models have a good construction.
The nose can be season 1,2,3 or 4 (some details are different) but they are ever slim. They did the nose thick. Actually, the problem start on the body. The part of the body that fix the nose is thick, consequently the nose is thick too.
But I think that my nose is season one. Look at this picture below. Is this season one? Mine was based in this nose.

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
The desert shot of KITT looks like it's from the episode "Goliath" which is 2nd season opener. Most of the time the nose was the same in season 2 and 3 and your model looks perfect copy of that
In 1st season, the areas both side next to the scanner opening had covers for turnsignals and 4th season had completely smooth nose in that area.
Re-used film material of course makes it confusing as they could show driving scene from 1st season on 4th season episode etc.
Your model is really nice and authentic looking, excellent work

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
I believe the shot your frontnose was based on was taken filming the Knight Rider opening sequence at El Mirage.
I love the lines and you are right mvgs2011: the nose needs to look a lot slimmer! That's what all the models miss. It seems like all model-frontnoses were based on the 4th season nose, even thought some build blackouts in it in the turnsignal area. They still don't have the "Michael Scheffe" lines and smoothness.
That having said, it is great big companies like Hotwheels still spent their time on a car from a 30 year old show. And as we can see, they are really trying to give it all the detail it needs! Never seen anything like it! Hope they can pick up some of our nose-comments, hope it's not too late.
I think we can categorize mvgs2011's frontnose best as a 2nd/3rd season, just like KITTfan said.

I agree with that!that happens because in hot wheels model also in ertl..they need to make the front fender more rounder and bended at the front end!the way they make it,it looks like a camaro fender that is why the front nose is not thick and slim!

More news...the shots we are seeing of the HotWheels KITT is a hand built prototype, including the scanner. So we will have to wait to see what they are really going to produce.

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!
You`re right! Like a Camaro. My friend, I don`t know what happen. How are those models done? Do They have an engineer to do the model? Does the Pontiac provides the original project?
Since I see a lots of erros. The makers need have one first thing in mind: reproduce the Pontiac Firebird 82 body. After do this with correct project, do the nose.
I DID MY KITT, I SHOWED MY MODEL HOW CAN YOU SEE THE PICTURES. SO, HOTWHEELS, YOUR PROJECT IS WRONG! IF THE MODEL NOT CHANGE, WE WILL HAVE THE KNIGHT RIDER 1:18 WRONG AGAIN. I´M DISAPPOINTED HOW A FAN.
