did they have different directors for each eppisode?

Hi guys, something I've noticed while watching verious tv shows from the 80's etc
is that they had different directors for each show, was this a normal thing for tv,
I know with a movie you have the same guy all the way thru...
but not sure on tv shows.. :dash4: :karr:
