Ever since we opened the chatroom last year, there hasn’t been a specific set of rules in place in terms of its governance. This is an area where we as moderators have failed in our duties, as it has led to certain individuals taking advantage of that lack of clarity, so that they can push forth their own personal agendas at the expense of the greater good.
Neil, Mike and myself take this issue very seriously, and as such, we are working on an amendment to the forum rules that will ensure the chatroom is clearly governed by the previously established rules and regulations from this point forward.
This means that there will be changes in what may have been viewed as acceptable behaviour in the past. This forum has always been home to a family orientated community, and as such, the chatroom will be as well.
Whilst infrequent and run of the mill profanity won’t be a specifically punishable offense, crude and suggestive personal comments will be, as will overtly sexual discussions, and blatant attacks on other members.
Please also remember that if trouble occurs whilst a moderator isn’t present, alerting us privately with a transcript or time index will allow disruptive issues to be dealt with retroactively as well.
Punishments will range from a single day’s suspension of chatroom privilages, to a week’s, unless specifically informed otherwise. Attempting to circumvent a suspension will also be punishable.
It should also be noted that if you are serving an indefinite ban or automated suspension from the forum, you will also be banned/suspended from using the chatroom for the duration.
If you guys have any questions, feel free to fire away.

Matt
