Yet another KR GPS question

Post by animosity721 » Mon Jan 25, 2010 9:29 pm

Hello,
I've reviewed many of the other posts regarding the Navman KR GPS, but haven't seen my issue yet so hopefully someone can help. I too purchased the Navman KR GPS for China. I received it today and just about everything is functioning. I get the KITT welcome message with my name at startup, the sides flash when you press any of the buttons on the screen, all of option/function buttons seem to work properly, I have maps, etc. My problem is that turn by turn voice navigation does not work. I have it selected, but it doesn't work. Same with when I spell something out it's supposed to repeat the letters, but it doesn't do it. Again I have that functioned checked off as well. Finally when it comes to the languages KITT doesn't come up in the options, only a Tom and a Susan I think. Any help, download links, info, WHATEVER would be great. This thing seems to be just about good to go, but just want to hear KITT giving me the turn by turn. Please help. Thanks

Okay so far no reply. I know some of you guys on the forum have some knowledge of the GPS, modding and/or hacking it. Am just asking for a little help. A little update to anyone who can possibly help out the problem seems to be with setting the TTS on the GPS. If anyone can help is there HTML code I have to type in to set it? If so where and what should the code look like. Also does anyone have the audio file for the KITT voice? This GPS doesn't seem to have it. I can send out with the code on the unit looks like if that can help out. Come on...help a guy out.

Hi anomosity721. Welcome to Knightrideronline.
Unfortunately you have a cheap Knight Rider knock off GPS (The 'Navman' one from overseas)

Turn voice navigation isn't there on yours nor is most of the things that we have on our KR GPS.

I am the one who made all the mods and hacks so far for the stock KR GPS.
I am very familiar with your software I'm afraid.
There is no way to help your knock off version be able to do the things ours can do.
I would get your money back ASAP!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :(

Taoworm2323,

I have just recently recieved one the original Mio units and was wondering if you still have a link to all your mods as well as the maps updates. I was looking through some older posts and noticed that you had at one point a page to go to to download this info. Unfortunately, I have tried to access this page with no luck. Perhaps I had the wrong log-in or something. I had also sent you a message requesting the info but perhaps you did not recieve it.

Little Help?

All is now well. Got my money back from the Navman one and was able to track down a real Mio KR GPS for pretty cheap on ebay. Looks and sounds great. If that link for the updated maps ever becomes available again please keep me posted. Thanks again
