I'd go with season 3 as it is the one that comes with the led scanner. Also, it is pretty hard to come by compared to the season 1. If you wanna wait though, there is also a season 4 model coming in March which I have already preordered >>> http://www.hlj.com/product/AOS04130" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But the season 4 will probably not include the led scanner..
The 3rd season model is a bit more expensive than the 1st but is it worth it? What are the pros and cons with the 1st and the 3rd season model? Also, is the 3rd season model bigger than the 1st?

As you yourself mentioned I noticed they have a 4th season coming out and the price is the same as a 1st season model!

All the models are 1/24 scale. So, they will all be the same size. The 3rd season KITT cost more because it includes the red led scanner whereas the 1st season KITT cost less because it didn't include the led scanner, which you have to get separately. I suspect that the upcoming 4th season KITT is the same price as the 1st season because it will probably not include the scanner. Hence, thats why at HLJ, the red KITT scanner is listed as "March restock". The same month that the 4th season KITT is due to be released.

And as to why the 1/24 KARR cost more than the 1st season KITT even though it does not include the scanner, remains a mystery to myself. >>> http://www.hlj.com/product/AOS04126

Okay, but what's the difference on the models shown here in the forum? I've noticed one is bigger than the other.

No.. The side by side models that you saw from another post is from a different manufacturer. One is the one from ERTL released a long time ago and the other is the recently released Aoshima version. For the Aoshima, all will be of the same size and that is 1/24th in scale.

I depends which KITT you like.I got the Season 1 and it came with the scanner. I chose Season 1 because that is the KITT I prefer, and am building a 1:1 real size KITT from Season 1. You just have to decide which one you like. You can get either one with a scanner, or buy them separately.

But the season 1 model does not include the scanner, it's sold separately. The 3rd season; however, comes with one although it's a little too expensive. I've noticed the 4th season is being released on HLJ in march so I'll probably go ahead and buy that one if the price doesn't shoot sky high. The scanner is of course a very nice youch to the car but I can buy and install that later if that's possible. Also, I want to combine the fog lights with a 2 + 2 setting as I think it looks better that way.

Point being I'm trying to find out if either model kit has a better quality than the other and so fourth. Then again all of them are Aoshima models so they should really maintain the same quality.

Buy which ever you prefer. I have heard some people with season 1 have changed the triple lamp design for a twin lamp design, so it's basically which dash design do you prefer?

I chose season 3 purely because the ERTL is season 1 so wanted something different.

I think I'll go for the 4th season model. It's avaliable at HOBBY SEARCH (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10084954" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) but the shipping cost is hidden so I'll wait for the one at HLJ when it's avaliable in march.

I just bought the Season 1 from HLJ on ebay and it came with the scanner. Try ebay. The scanner is definately awesome!

Is that photo of the model official??? Is that the actual model to be released in March? The photo isn't shown at HLJ yet though. If that is indeed the model, that means its not the convertible or SPM I was hoping for. In the photo, you can clearly see a difference in the nose section, a smoother look without the signal indentations. Definitely a season 4 KITT. But even so, I like the season 4 nose of KITT.. So I'm glad I pre-ordered it. :D

Heh, yeah I know! Although, I don't think the season 4 model will have a convertible mode avaliable and as for the picture on Hobby Search I believe it's genuine as you can see from the shape of the nose and what not looks to be a season 4 model.

Now that they have done a season 4 KITT, maybe they would do the convertible or SPM KITT next... I certainly hope so..

Crap! The Aoshima KITT (season 4 model) is delayed on HLJ and they expect the items to be delivered from the manufacturer by the 30th of march. They take no more orders until the supplies are confirmed. STAY TUNED!

Unfortunately I didn't! I hope they have got more than what has been preordered.

I've been slowly putting this together, did some further details to this, for example to the lights next to the voicebox where originally was just 4 lights in the left side I did the 5th one and the top countdown lightpanel. Also I painted the rims between spokes black as I did for the ERTL 1/18 model:

Otherwise haven't gotten far yet in building this model, the front axle is ready for the wheels to be installed but the rear axle is still half done, needs the brakedrums, wheel attachment stubs, exhaust pipes & of course the wheels and the most boring building phase is finished. Then begins the fun stuff, dashboard etc. :)

Even though this model is still only in the beginning stage in construction I went and ordered the SPM modelkit as well  Should arrive next week.
How's everyone else doing with these models, has anyone else done any additional detailing?
