Wow that looks great! What 1/18 Shleby model is that? Can you post a link to the exact model brand please? The model itself looks spot on!thunder87 wrote:Hi There!

Re: KI3T 1/18 Scanner Shelby GT500KR
Good morning *tired*
First of all, thanks for the positive feedback! The exact Brand Name is the one and only accurate Model (IMHO) of Shelby Collectibles.
Here's the link: http://www.diecastmustangs.com/Shelby-C ... 08kr02.htm
For all of them who want some informations about the work on that car, I'm writing on something like a tutorial. In the next days I'm going to translate it into English so you can use it as well!
Bye
Florian

Re: KI3T 1/18 Scanner Shelby GT500KR
Looks superb!!! Love the scanner movements!! It really amazes me at how some of you guys here can install a working scanner into the car.... Unfortunately, I'm not that good with my hands...
I've just purchased the same model from Ebay... >>> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 26_fvi%3D1
If it all goes smoothly,I should be receiving it by next week.. But I'm not so sure if I want to pimp the car into KITT just yet. I think the car itself looks good with or without the KITT modifications.. After watching a couple of episodes of the new series, I have really fallen for the car.. It just looks awesome. I think the only cosmetic differences other than the interior wld be the words SHELBY on the front and back of the car as well as the red scanner.. Oh and the cobra logo looks different on KITT too compared to the normal stock GT500KR model. Some of which has been modified perfectly by some members here.. Looking forward on getting it so it can be side by side with my 1/18 classic Trans Am KITT!

Re: KI3T 1/18 Scanner Shelby GT500KR
Hey Florian, nice job, really really great. (this is what I call made in Germany )
I replaced the scanner in my 1:18 KI2T and KARR, so I know it is tricky. But I haven't dared to mod my Shelby GT500KR yet. But I am going to.
So of course after seeing your amazing job I have some questions.
- Are thos 3mm LEDs? They seem quite small, which is great.
- Which circuit do you use to run the LED programms? And is it small enough to put it into the car.
- Did you have to remove parts of the enginge to place the new components?
Man, you would make a lot of us happy if you could write a very small "howto" with some pictures. (okay I know you are going to do it, just sayings because it's IMPORTANT )

Re: KI3T 1/18 Scanner Shelby GT500KR
Awesome job and i can't wait on that tutorial so i can add a fully functional scanner to mine. so far i just used some detail paint and added my scanner to mine and blacked out the emblems and did the tail lights in black trim here are a couple pics of it with my 82 model that i modified to resemble my actual KITT replica with two fog lights and a few other details.

Re: KI3T 1/18 Scanner Shelby GT500KR
HOFFABE, your KI3T looks really good even without a lighted scanner. Good job painting it.. You must have steady hands! Can't wait to receive mine.. Did you use black paint to cover up the word SHELBY in front under the scanner and at the rear? Coz its really not noticeable judging from the photos.. The black paint you used must have really matched the overall black of the car...

Re: KI3T 1/18 Scanner Shelby GT500KR
As I said, I'm going to post the link to my report in the next days.
I haven't already finished my work (need to fix the switches, store the battery somewhere in the car and i also need to do the right programming of the scanner), nevertheless, I'll post it
to answer your questions quickly Garthe Knight:
- Are thos 3mm LEDs? They seem quite small, which is great.
No. I used 16 pcs SMD LEDs (8 Left, 8 Right)
- Which circuit do you use to run the LED programms? And is it small enough to put it into the car.
I'm using a modified circuit board with an ATMEGA8 controller and 8 channel output
- Did you have to remove parts of the enginge to place the new components?
No! I didn't remove any parts, everything (excl. 9V battery) fits
But just wait till weekend and you'll see it

Re: KI3T 1/18 Scanner Shelby GT500KR
no i actually used a touch of paint reducer or thinner on a rag and quickly wiped it on and right back off removing the shelby name up front but you can't remove the it on the back without damaging the stripes so i just left it there. And thank u. I have several of the old KITT/KARR diecast and needed a new KITT so some customizing is always in order.

Re: KI3T 1/18 Scanner Shelby GT500KR
Hmmm... I don't think I want to take the risk of removing "SHELBY" on the front and especially the rear.. Will probably just leave it on the model once I receive it. Got word from the seller that it has been shipped! Though I will definitely put a red strip or something to simulate the scanner up front... Its still a great looking car without the KI3T mods..

OUCH!!!! That had to hurt!! I'm not gonna try removing mine then.... The words are not so distracting anyway.. Most important is the scanner part.. I don't have the skills to do the LED like yours, so I will just put a red strip at the air intake to simulate the scanner....

Re: KI3T 1/18 Scanner Shelby GT500KR
To remove the SHELBY letters I used abrasive paper with 2000 grain (or whatever "Schleifpapier mit 2000er Körnung" is called in english ) and after that polish to get a smooth surface. Use lots of water or you will get scratches on the paint.imranbecks wrote: hey, I tried removing the "SHELBY" letters and I failed so I have to do some corrections now:

It worked pretty well at the front, I don't have removed the letters at the back yet because I am not quite sure how to do this without damaging the black racing stripes.

WoW I wish I was good at doing that stuff. I would for sure try to do that. I might just add a little red paint, or act as if the scanner is not on. haha
