Smith Cho vs rest of the Cast....?
Why is Smith Cho still billed as a 'Guest Star' when Bruce Davison and Sydney Poitier have only had 'bit parts' and have not appeared in EVERY episode, unlike Smith???
Granted in the Shining Armor ep, her character was annoying but her character (along with Billy) is proving to be a vital member of the SSC in terms of storylines and skills. I would definitely describe her as 'easy on the eye' too, maybe even more so than the other two 'leading ladies...'

If I'm looking at the right thing, it looks like they are already in post production, which means she has already filmed all her scenes for those other projects.KTMCDO wrote:according to IMDB she has other projects in the pipeline

I agree with you , my opinion is based on looks alone (I know Im shallow) Ravai is a very good looking woman but Zoe is something else.Scott Kirkessner wrote:I disagree... get rid of Rivai and expand Smith Cho's role!

Re: Smith Cho vs rest of the Cast....?
Im a fan of dark eyes and hair in the looks dept so both are winners in that way. In terms of storylines and character usefulness though, it would make far more sense for Ravai to be the 'guest star' and for Zoe to be a regular...

The actress Smith Cho (Zoe Chae), which is participating in the series Knight Rider 2008 is very good, but I thought it would be the best actresses is Tia Carrere or Kristin Kreuk, dont´t you think?
This is just my opinion...

I hope Smith Cho stays. Billy and Zoe make for great comic relief.
I think I want to give all the characters a chance to continue to build up a good chemistry on the show. I think it's working out quite well so far.

Those thoughts would fly around in my mind should these two ever star in Knight Rider.

Re: Smith Cho vs rest of the Cast....?
She didn't, that's Asia Carrera. But Tia Carrera is in her 40s now so she doesn't exactly fit the age group of Mike, Sarah and Billy, plus she's older than Yancy Arias, which would be weird since the Zoe character is his assistant. That said, Tia still looks pretty good.
Kristen Kruek, meh, she's attractive but I got sick of her on Smallville, though the way her character was written certainly didn't help. I couldn't see her playing this role anyway. Besides that, she's done what will be yet another awful Street Fighter movie.

The new and again improved evil's advertisement is currently too long and too badass to display here. But let's just say that with now 50% more evil, this **** is great!

Re: Smith Cho vs rest of the Cast....?
While I found Zoe annoying at first I do have to admit that I thought her and Michael made a very cute couple and had way better chemisty together then Michael and Sarah. I guess cause they were having, you know, FUN instead of all that soap opera crap. I really thought it was cute when "getting in to character" were Michael was putting his arm around Zoe in Kitt.
Well I'm not a fan of the whole soap opera thing I wouldn't mind it if they put Michael and Zoe together.

Re: Smith Cho vs rest of the Cast....?
The "title" of being a series regular or a guest star largely depends on the contract type the actor has set up with the show. A regular is contracted for a certain amount of episodes, normally the majority of the season (but not necesarily all) and make more than guest stars. Guest stars are not contracted long term in that way, they are week to week employees who can essentially be left out of an episode if necessary (and if the budget requires it). Inversely, should the guest star actor get a better gig somewhere else, they are under no obligation to take that role if something else comes up.
For example, if KR is filming episode 13 in two weeks (I'm not saying they are, just using it as an example) and Smith Cho gets a guest spot say, on "Chuck" in advance and KR doesn't tell her she's in that ep, she can just take the spot on "Chuck" even if it interferes with her time on KR. Regulars don't have that freedom. If the script says Mike is in an ep, Justin has to show up for work.

Re: Smith Cho vs rest of the Cast....?
I don't read any of the spoiler sections, but to me it sounds as if her character is going to get killed off soon (hopefully).
I do think the show has too many characters as it is. There are so many that Rivai was absent in one episode and her absence was explained with one throwaway line that she was in Washington, D.C. And Charles Graiman was missing in the next episode and no explanation for his absence was even given. To me that's a sign that the writers don't know how to handle all of the characters and/or give them adequate lines and screen time. That may be why other actors are not being billed as guest stars despite the fact that they have very little screen time.

Speaking of Cho, we just posted a short interview we did with her while she was filming next weeks episodes:

Re: Smith Cho vs rest of the Cast....?
You've hit upon my point, 2 actors have not appeared in every episode so far but have still been credited on the 'intro' whereas, Smith has been in every one AND served a purpose (im struggling with the Ravai character to find a purpose for her, surely the role of "FBI mission assigner" could be a faceless one...?).goldbug wrote:The "title" of being a series regular or a guest star largely depends on the contract type the actor has set up with the show. I wonder will there be any change in the contract situation since KR got the 22 eps....??

Re: Smith Cho vs rest of the Cast....?
I'm in the other camp... I prefer Carrie, but it just feels like they don't have a clue what to do with her! Given her background in the FBI, I think she would have been a more logical choice to be out on the missions with Mike (than Sarah), but hey-ho.Scott Kirkessner wrote:I disagree... get rid of Rivai and expand Smith Cho's role!

Re: Smith Cho vs rest of the Cast....?
We haven't seen the entire season yet. Carrie may yet appear in a string of episodes, or not. Either way, she's contracted. Smith can come and go as the writers/producers see fit. My point was that the "title" of "Star" or "Guest Star" has nothing to do with the prominance of the character but rather their pay rate and their contractual obligations to the show.pheonix_knight wrote:You've hit upon my point, 2 actors have not appeared in every episode so far but have still been credited on the 'intro' whereas, Smith has been in every one AND served a purpose (im struggling with the Ravai character to find a purpose for her, surely the role of "FBI mission assigner" could be a faceless one...?).
