Knight no more!

Post by Knight 2002 » Wed Oct 01, 2008 1:20 pm

In a word, disappointing! My favourite TV show of all time has a half-assed namesake. I am a lifelong Knight Rider fan and the show deserves better than this. First, get rid of the transformation gimmick all together. I am still in favour of nano-technology protecting K.I.3.T. but only to that extent! This is Knight Rider, not Transformers. Second, get K.I.3.T. a real voice modulator instead of a crystal ball, Mike wants to see K.I.3.T.'s voice not his psychic reading! Third, upgrade the dash, the fact that the Mustang has a retro look inside (as well as outside) doesn't correspond with the fact that K.I.3.T. is supposed to be the car of the future; the old car touted itself as such and this car is the successor, so why does the old car look so much more advanced in both respects? Even the exterior of the car should be modified so it doesn't look like a stock Shelby GT500KR OR ideally, get another car that is sleeker (have the producers heard of the word 'subtlety', obviously not, judging by the craptastic 'Attack Mode') . I agree with other posts, the scripts need to get better, there are tons of material to draw upon from the old series, while still establishing this series. Fourth, drop the 'Bat-cave' and most of the team, how can 'one man make a difference' when he is constantly monitored and has a team of almost 7 people assisting him on missions? Fifth, minimize the use of CGI, it looks low budget and it cheapens the stunts, for example, the 'Turbo Boost' sequence in the series premiere. I realize there have only been two episodes (including the pilot) but from what I've seen, there may only be 12 episodes left.

No offence mate but another I hate the new Knight Rider rant?

No series gets it right after 1 episode, the backdoor pilot doe'snt count due to GST re-inventing that too.

I never make my mind up about a show until Ive seen a good few episodes, even the original 1st season KR got off to a slow start, It didnt come into its own until season 2.

Please watch some more of the new show and decide then.

While I agree with what you're saying weezl...I'm not sure the original had a slow start, the first season arguably had more high quality episodes than the second. Trust Doesn't Rust, A Plush Ride, Chariot of Gold, whatever that Colonel Kincaid one is called all imply the show came into its own well before the second season.
Michael: "KITT! Where are ya?!"
K.I.T.T.: "I'm in your parking space, Michael, where else would I be?"

Hey guys, thanks for responding to my first post on this forum, 'weeezl' and 'cloudkitt' , I really appreciate it. In regards to your responses, I'm going to have to agree with 'cloudkitt'. The first episode of the original series had a great story, believeable technology (for the most part), and a sleek, futuristic car and all this was in the first episode!!!! The formula was so solid, they could show K.I.T.T. skiing on water in the second season (if this were done in the first, it would have lost it's edge and viewers). The show still managed to get better that first season. I still haven't written off this new version of Knight Rider yet but I think some things need to be changed in order for it to continue past thirteen episodes.

I wasnt referring to Knight Of The Phoenix at all, in fact it was my favourite of the whole season, there were a few slow episodes in season 1, Slammin sammys, Topaz Connection for instance but hey thats just my opinion and also because KOTP was a really strong starter.

As far as coming into its own, I meant the relationship between Michael and Kitt and the general vibe of the the show, for me that is.

The only reason I said anything was because there are too many of these I Hate new KR threads littering up the board. Its gets on my nerves strictly because these are all based on 1 episode and I personally like to remain open minded and make decisions after seeing more of whats on offer. Nothing I said was confrontational , just my opinion on waiting too see how this show pans out and then deciding, thats all.

Thanks

Weeezl
