Has anyone been to Jalopnik.com lately! Right now they are sponsored by Knight Rider!
I find it ironic since they didn't care about the spy pictures I sent them of the Attack KiTT before they were reveiled here! Also, most of it's member bad mouth the new series so much and post negative comments whenever Jalopnik posts something about KI3T or the new Knight Rider Series. The site even made fun of KI3T and how it was horrible that Val Kilmer was the new voice of KI3T.
This was on their front page today!

I don't get it!
My account was even blocked from posting any comments, because I disagreed with something racist they posted! Where's the Freedom of Speech?

I hear ya jaime. We as a site have a friendly relationship with them, but that's how all the Gawker media blogs are. They're smart asses and picky about everything - that is their shtick.
But it's an Ad, and money walks. Jalopnik has the traffic, so NBC wants the eyes. They can overlook their negative posts cause as we know - any press is good press.

I still frequent their site almost daily because I'm a car lover.

Site's like Jalopnik have Ad Sales teams, where they work with Advertisers for custom promotions. What you are seeing on Jalopnik is referred to as a "Site Takeover" It's the standard three units (leaderboard, skyscraper and box) plus additional ad units - in this case the brandings down the side and the larger promo area at the middle. These usually go for a thousand or so dollars for a single day. This is via NBCs advertising department reaching out to Jalopnik and negotiating a deal.
This is very different from us. We don't have an Ad Sales team, all our ads are run through Google - so we're at the mercy to whatever Google sends to us. In this case NBC's advertising department works directly with Google, and NBC tells google to display Knight Rider ads on sites that mention specific keywords. There is no big dollar over these ads for the sites, and it's usually a few cents a click for each ad.
It looks like they have taken over cause we hit high on their keyword list - but it's not something we negotiated or have any control over (other than turning all ads off). But the truth is the ads help support the revenue for the sites servers...
NBC's Ad team didn't come to us directly for advertising, cause it would be a waste of dollars - everyone on this site is already going to watch - it's the other sites they spend more money on to get a different audience..
