Adventure shows for kids?

Post by Michael Pajaro » Tue Sep 23, 2008 3:11 pm

Is there a drought of kid-friendly action shows on the air? These are the primetime shows I can think of that kids might enjoy:

Terminator (still a little dark for younger kids)
Chuck (very good for kids)
Smallville (been on too long at this point, growing old)

Yes, I know there are kids who watch Lost or Heroes or Galactica, but those shows aren't written with younger audiences in mind. Think back to the 80s and how we had a huge buffet of action/adventure shows to choose from. It's time to bring back that genre.

I'm sure there are some cable shows I'm missing, but Knight Rider could fill the void for a youth-oriented adventure show.

Agreed?

As long as there's no more lady to lady hanky panky, agreed.

This generation needs something to get nostalgic about when they're our age. TV hasn't exactly churned out much memorable stuff for the last 20 odd years. I don't see them getting all misty eyed for "Viper"...

Dude my parents used to let me watch some scary stuff. Poltragist, silence of the lamb, and excersist. Never gave me nightmares...until I watched Jurrasic Park at a drive in...stupid dinosaurs. ;) other then that I was okay.

Dude, I had nightmares over ET, I use to have these dreams that his head was floating over my bed/crib (just to show how how old I was here, heh) saying he was going to kill me. Plus I've always hated that scene where they find ET next to the river sick.

I think the girl/girl "hanky panky" as well as the guy/girl stuff don't take too much influence over the show, I doubt it'll be around what was shown in the pilot due to the time slot. There's going to be and already is plenty of people just complaining over the stuff in the first episode. I'm sure a gasket will be blown after the second episode... >_>

What I really hope is that there's no teen drama crap that's plagued so many shows.... Hell, I'd take an episode where Mike and Sarah infiltrate a Tijuana donkey show over any episode featuring Mike staring longingly at Sarah as she walks off with another guy.

This is why IMO we should have done this, and this kind of television is *extremely popular* in Japan and all over the world. We could have to original cast do an Anime version of KR.We don't have to put the credits in the beginning of the show.People love animation-especially 2D.It can be 2D animation done using computers.Just give it good writing, and people will come. But it should be more of a family oriented show,so it could attract more people. If anyone saw this clip from YouTube,KITT would look amazing as an animated character:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BBPegjQ0J8 I've put a link to this video up before in the General Discussion.
Congratulations!By reading this signature,KITT's AWESOMENESS has increased by ONE POINT!
So far KITT's power level is OVER 9,000!!!!

Ah - sorry! Did you like "Thunder in Paradise" though?

If you ask the majority of people out there though to name a series with a super crime fighting car and they'll instantly say "Knight Rider".

The 80's was a golden age for that genre of series, we had them ALL - The A-Team, Airwolf, Street Hawk, Blue Thunder et al but since then there hasn't been a period when TV was as comparably "good" until very recently - past few years I'd say.

I'm getting into US TV series now in a way that I haven't since I was a kid, with stuff coming up like "Terminator: TSCC", "Chuck", Heroes", "Lost", "Supernatural", "Knight Rider" (when it eventually comes to the UK) etc.

The problem is though advertisers don't want a family audience. American primetime network television is designed to appeal to the 18-49 demographic. That is who the advertisers wants watching their ads so that's what the networks create programs for.

Man... I use to watch Thunder in Paradise and yeah, it was because of the boat.... **** you Hulk Hogan you egomaniac! >_> <_<

Yeah though 8pm is still considered the "family hour" at least by some, so hopefully that will be taken into consideration by advertisers. Also, tonight's ratings do matter so much as next week's and the weeks after it, hopefully though it does really really good tonight, what's it going against besides Bones?

OH GOD NO. Here's the thing I'm a big pro wrestling fan and at the time Hogan was making this he was the WWF world champion and unstead of doing live interviews, matches, building up the story for his next match, etc he was making this show and would film little 30 second interviews to build up to his title match and nothing else and collect a huge check.

When Hogan was making this he was nowhere near a popular as he was in the 80s but, his ego wouldn't tell him otherwise. Hell the guy was a "good guy" and he was getting booed by fans cause they were sick of his act. Till the WWF got rid of him in June of '93. And then he went to WCW and almost ruined them at the time.

But, about the show had Hogan done this in the 80s at the height of his starpower and the super crime fighting _____, this show would have lasted a few more seasons.
