another goof from the pilot?

Post by pheonix_knight » Sat Aug 23, 2008 11:06 am

I was rewatching the Feb show (did it have an episode name??) again and spotted something a bit odd,

Its already been commented on that the part where KITT comes out of the plane and turns actually has 2 totally different manouvres (1 reverse turn then a forward turn as the shot changes)

Did anyone else notice that just before the part where the SUV crashes into KITT, mike races ahead of the SUV and actually does a 180 turn but the SUV hits the car at a 90 degree angle....

Not sure about an episode name although the Emmy DVD of the pilot seems to be titled "Prometheus"

Also did you notice the other mistake? when Kitt picks up Sarah and speeds off it shows a quick cut of the stunt car with completely different wheels?

Not that its a mistake as such but what about the awful CGI Kitt shown just before they arrive at Vegas? I laughed pretty hard when I saw that, it bothered me far more than the obvious mistakes!

I will have to watch it again... i hope the new episodes find their way in to my possession in some manner before the UK decides to air them...

If i win the lottery tonight I will be in Vegas by the 24th September anyway...

I noticed that, too.
I don't think the car was intentionally doing a 180 in the first take -- I think they probably
just had too much speed and the car kept going past the intended 90 degree slide.

I used to goof off doing e-brake turns when it rained (during my High School years).
I can tell you, once the car starts sliding -- its not easy to stop it or modulate it.
An intended 90 degree turn could easily turn into a 120 or 180. I once did a spin
so quickly (and stupidly I might add) -- that the car spun around nearly a full 360.

we didnt see kitt change to attack mode either before the SUV ran into the side, don't know if that qualifies as a goof though

This is all because the pilot was so hastily put together, instead of doing it right. :kitt2:

Yeah, it turning/sliding too much was something pretty hard to miss. ;)
The new and again improved evil's advertisement is currently too long and too badass to display here. But let's just say that with now 50% more evil, this **** is great! :skar:

The cars wheels are different (stock GT wheels) because the rollcage car used for speedy drivings stunts was a normal Mustang GT with no modifications other than a rollcage driving cell on the roof.

That's why most film directors hate working with animals, children and cars.
Cars are especially troublesome sometimes... I have heard some horror stories from a couple transportation captains.

I know the Dukes of Hazzard TV series was probably the worst for reliably operating cars. Most of the Chargers were $1000 beaters painted to look nice.... But their powertrains were burning oil, struggling...... Half the time, they could barely get the cars to run. In their defense, the Chargers were already a decade old when the show debuted in 1979. Some of these used cars were performing extreme stunts with over 100,000 miles on most of them (and Warner Brothers was too cheap to rebuild any of them).

Although, the unpredictable Crossfire V8s in the original Knight Rider show had many mechanics pulling their hair out, too.
There ain't no E in Garth, damn it.

Post by KnightRiderFan1051 » Sun Aug 24, 2008 9:41 am

while I agree there were several mistakes in the movie it's still Knight Rider Reborn hell it's better then the 1990 movie Knight Rider 2000 even though I liked that and it gave some closure to the series this is much better can't wait for the series

I started a topoic under the new series menu about trying to find the NEW theme for the 2008 show I can't find it anywhere if anyone can help me out please let me know.
