Work in Progress - 3D Model of KITT

Post by eFirehawk » Thu Jun 12, 2008 12:58 pm

Hello everyone =)

Let me introduce myself first, I watched KR for the first time in the 90s when I was 12 years old, since then KITT became one of my favorite cars, so, as 3D Design is my hobby, why not give KITT a try? =) I started on this model it has a few weeks, he's faaaaar away from being finished, I've done just a bit of the car shape for now... it's being quite hard to do it since I don't have any good reference pictures of KITT for the details... and KITT is black and very reflective, wich doesn't help much when I need to check out on some KITT shapes ( not standard Trans Am body ) when looking at the pictures o_O Since it's being very difficult to get it right, any suggestions and critiques of the model are very welcome! =) If you don't know why the model is "squared" in some places, like the wheel arches and so on... it's because I'm making that model for my private use in some games also, and games can't support meshes with very high polycounts so I need to be careful on that one =) Of course I'm going to do a High-Poly version of the car right after this one is finished!! =) Well, that's it! Remeber the car is only about 20% done!!

I hope you all like it! :)

That doesn't look too bad actually, one thing I noticed right away are the windows, they're not quite shaped right. Looks really good though for being only 20% finished. Keep at it! Btw I love the last picture, I'd like to see that one with a finished KITT in it. Thanks for sharing. Oh and welcome to KRO.

That looks great man! Not bad at all for only being 20% done! I have been trying for a long time to make a low polygon 3D KITT that does the car justice. The body lines on this car though are just really tricky for some reason. Can't wait to see more!

Wow! That's fantastic! I wish I was that good at 3D. I agree - more pics! And maybe do a KARR when you're able? ;)

Beautiful! Amazing!

The nose, adding a lip to the fog light openings will give it more depth...
The scanner opening, there isn't enough flat area on the bumper...
The fenders, no air vents.
No bumper guards on door / fender / rear qtr panel
Rear deflectors?

I thought the bulge hood could of been smoothed more, but it looked nice in that last pic, which I assume is high res...

In that last pic... notice the line where the fender meets the door... Fender looks like it could be taller a bit, it seems too short, see what I mean? Like the whole fenders / hood needs to enlarge upwards to be to scale with the rest of the car...

The turbo cast wheels and caps look amazing!

Looking forward to seeing more...

Rafael
