Just ran across this...an AOL interview posted (I believe) today:
7. How do you feel about the 'Knight Rider' TV movie you did and the upcoming series?
I brought the show to NBC's attention so I was disappointed I wasn't involved in its development. But it's exciting the network's running with it. The movie lacked heart, humor and action, the things that made the original work. The good news is, the new producers are going to pay homage to the old series. I may even come back as a guest star.

Well in that case, I retract my previous statements that the original article about Hasselhoff's criticisms was a fake.

Well, then I guess both were true. At least it means things were smoothed over a bit. Couldn't say I disagreed with his sentiment on the movie though. Hopefully GST and the people involved really do a lot to fix things where they were needed and it's not just talk.
The new and again improved evil's advertisement is currently too long and too badass to display here. But let's just say that with now 50% more evil, this **** is great!

The movie needed improvement in all three departments Da Hoff mentions, but I would not say they lacked it. Of the three, humor was definitely there and there was some cool action. It did need more "heart", but I think a show needs time to develop that. He seems to be taking a cautiously optimistic approach. Coupled with the video from a few weeks back, I'd say Da Hoff is behind the new show in part since it could mean him playing MK again.

You know, I had a feeling that WENN article was true. If it wasn’t you’d think we would have seen an immediate response from NBC or Hasselhoff or someone. Instead of coming out and saying the article was a fake they posted David up everywhere talking about the show. Obviously David wasn’t expecting such a backlash from… well, from us about it so that is why he got rather drunk and released that video.
Frankly I feel bad for the guy. I hope he can forge a better relationship with GST than he has with other producers.
As for his great ideas??? Baywatch the musical???

I'm very happy to see that he seems to be willing to come back as a guest star.
Even though I was somewhat disappointed in the TV movie (but not REAL disappointed), I think there is a lot of potential to make it a really good series! And knowing that the Hoff is willing to appear now and then is a BIG plus to me. I look forward to seeing what they come up with!
