nano blooper/plot hole??
as we are introduced to Sarah Graiman she's lecturing a class on nanotechnology and says at one point something along the lines of 'they are able to reform a different shape of similar size and mass...' (paraphrasing...)
so where do the mad spoilers and add ons suddenly appear from, as they are in addition to the original size/mass...???
i know that the ATTACK mode is being revised (especially since it didnt attack anything, just raced a bit...) but i thought i'd ask the question of the KR 'science'...

Re: nano blooper/plot hole??
Humm, and if pieces fall off of him does he have to drive back and let them rejoin his mass like a terminator does?
I think were gonna have to allow them some flexibility in this area.
Maybe the cells themselves can reorganize or grow without adding or subtracting to the number of cells he has. This would give KITT a little bit more size flexibility. Also if you think about it, water expands when it freezes not because it gained more mass but because it can reorganizes its molecular structure. So long story short, I’m not bothered by it. Now if he suddenly becomes a Volkswagen bug or an airplane or something. Well that might be a problem.
Answer this for me. Is it just KITTs skin that is the nano technology? Is his motor inside real and unchangeable? This is what I’m imagining, but I could be wrong. This would be keeping true to the idea that KITT has a "shell" like the MBS.

Agreed about having to use some flexibility/suspension of belief. The technology itself is within the realm of "scifi" sure, but realistically they've already made boo boos including the aforementioned 'parts falling off but reappearing' bit. I do wonder about the extent of the nanos. While I am probably more open minded than most about suspension of belief, I can't help but wonder - when he turns into other Mustangs, the scanner on the hood effectively disappears. But clearly that's a working, functional piece of technology - so it would seem to follow that the nanos can actually form functioning machinery, not just an outer shell or static parts.

Re: nano blooper/plot hole??
I’ve been going on about that scanner thing for a while now but no one has really offered any other thoughts on the matter. I was more leaning towards the possibility that the scanner is still in there under the nano shell and perhaps it is capable of scanning through the shell to see. If it truly goes away how does he see? And if he can’t see how can he still drive? They would have to work around this problem when writing the script, “oh hold on Mike let me just morph back my scanner so I can check that out for you.”goldbug wrote: I do wonder about the extent of the nanos. - I don’t really see that idea working out.
Hopefully they will explain all this for us in an episode of the series. But personally I think his scanner should stay in place after he morphs. Now that more Shelbys with that hood are going to be on the road, perhaps there is more of a possibility of him changing color and still keeping the hood. It’s his heart and soul, you can’t just remove it. Besides think of the toy market, what, are you gonna do? Sell a plain white Mustang and try to convince people it's KITT? No you’re gonna want all the versions of KITT you sell to have the scanner.

Re: nano blooper/plot hole??
See, with the "blood pumping" version of the scanner, it's a lot easier for me to be able to accept the fact that it morphs under the hood to stay in disguise because of its organic qualities. Now that the scanner is apparently changed to resemble the Knight 2000's, it will be that much harder for me to be able to accept a series of bulbs morphing into other shapes.Sue wrote:I’ve been going on about that scanner thing for a while now but no one has really offered any other thoughts on the matter. I suppose the equivalent to this would be the fact that classic K.I.T.T.'s scanner was not always on during the first two seasons of the original series. A lot of fans liked the fact that the scanner in some instances suddenly came "alive," but the fact that it was usually off always irritated me. It's a feature that I always felt should remain on 24/7 unless K.I.T.T. was deactivated or destroyed. The fact that the Knight 3000's scanner may sometimes morph away bugs me in the same way.

he just turns the scanner off.

Re: nano blooper/plot hole??
I think the conservation-of-mass issue is very easy to explain. In the trunk of the car, in the door panels, under the hood... wherever... there are plates of nano-particles. When KITT needs to add the spoilers or vents, the particles rise up to the surface. Done.

Re: nano blooper/plot hole??
personally i liked the fact that the new KITT's scanner dissappears when he morphs cuz the reason he's morphing is to camoflauge himself and disguise himself so the bad guys won't recognize him and they'll think its just another mustang and if they see the scanner, they'll know its him

Re: nano blooper/plot hole??
Back to the question of if KI3Ts NT is just skin deep like KI2T’s MBS. I was watching this Justin interview again and here he says, “Coated in nano technology.” Perhaps this answers that.
