It's cool (though rough cut towards the end). However I like the way the new theme song pays homage to the original while establishing its own "identity". Coincidentally, I now have both the classic and nu-KR themes on my cell as ring tones. :)

I absolutely loved the opening credits of KR08 as is, but this clip is very very interesting. The original music starts out as a great match, but as it goes farther along the video becomes a lot more energetic and the old music doesn't work as well.

In my opinion I think it doesn't work (the original score) because the opening titles for Knight Rider 08 were clearly slapped together where as the original pilot intro actually had improved angles of the car and the purple desert haze that set up the mystical elements of the show which would become unique to the series. The original intro for KOTP had a nice balance between elements that were in motion and stationary.

This intro came across more as a CGI eye candy and camera trick fest, I think they could have done better without confining it to such a narrowed display and better still shots of the car instead of keeping everything in motion.

I'm not going to fault NBCU for choosing to do this because clearly they're trying to go in their own directions away from the original series in terms of their camera work and effects presentations. It would make sense they would also want to avoid repeating or referencing the original opening which I still feel worked better then what they chose to go with.

Pacing is probably the deciding factor between using the original music and the newer music which starts out decent enough but then it goes off into it's own odd guitar rift solo that doesn't fit in well with the original score cues.

I can agree with that, I hope they at least change the guitar solo part.
The new and again improved evil's advertisement is currently too long and too badass to display here. But let's just say that with now 50% more evil, this **** is great! :skar:

The new intro was the greatest "piece of slapped-together eye-candy" I've seen in a long time.

I think the narrow display is actually reminiscent of the opening credits of Season 1, where most of the season footage shown was through K.I.T.T.'s monitor. The new intro is basically doing the same thing, and I took the narrow space as a representation of the voice modulator on the new K.I.T.T.'s iPhone screen.

- I don't tend to agree with your tastes in what is good and what is bad, Michael. I think stating that Charles Graiman had the most character development in the backdoor pilot is rediculous, but that is your opinion. I'll leave it at that.

- I agree you could view it that way. I found it more distracting considering the space on the iphone device isn't that narrow, it felt more like double letterbox since in HD it was already letterbox to begin with. At least with the original series, the intro filled the whole screen. As I've said before, to each their own.

IMHO ... they should ditch the version of the theme used in the pilot and replace it
with the version used in the first half of the 2 minute preview trailer for the pilot.
They should have it re-arranged, so it's roughly the same length as the original,
whilst rejigging the opening titles to show the faces of the character appear
on the new KITT's iPhone-esque touchscreen display console.

That version sounds more like the classic KR theme, but modernised enough not
to deviate too far from the original. Unlike the version that was used, which
only had the first few bars based upon the original theme, while the rest
of it was a horrible mess of noisy electric guitar based riffs.

I agree with you DJGM, i was actually expecting and looking forward to that version of the theme when the Pilot aired. While i do like the version that was aired in the Pilot i think the one used in the 2 min preview would've been much better. I hope we do get a different mix of the theme for the new series.

Audio snippet from 2 min promo featuring preferred re-arrangement of theme.

That sounds so much better than the rather poor version they used in the pilot.
If only there was a full clean version of the re-worked KR theme used in that
promo, in existence somewhere. It'd be good to compare it to the classic
version, and perhaps even dub it on to the classic opening titles.

To be honest im totaly sick of hearing the old tune, just about every KR related vid on you tube have the old theme taked over the top.
Its now got to the point that I just mute the vid and watch without the music.

I used to love it but now it annoys me, I think ive listened to it to many times just like I have with war of the worlds album.

The new theme was a nice homage to the old and sounds (in my opion) way better.

Also heres my vid using the old kitt and the new theme as were mixing things up a bit. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fwU_JuFxuiU

Cheers.

I liked the new theme alot - I just wish they went back and had more cues of the original. When it went to guitar it was fine - but it needed to get grounded again.

Remember tho - Shapeshifter did say that originally if they went to series they would be doing a different theme by a different artist every episode. I'm not sure if this is still the plan in the new regime, but given that this was the idea originally - the theme we heard so far has a very good chance of being changed.

I also did like the entire intro, but i truly loved the first 30 seconds of it, but thats interesting for them to change it every episode i dont think ive ever heard of that before.
