Question for Doctor Who Fans

Post by Judd » Mon Mar 24, 2008 9:29 pm

Hi I'm new here. I joined up after seeing the new Knight Rider. I used to watch the original one on NBC, had the model kit and ordered the K.I.T.T. Kit and remember being really excited to have it when the Goliath two parter was shown. For the record I liked the new movie overall but it wasn't perfect for many of the reasons already pointed out. Today I ordered the season 1 DVD set of the original. It'll be fun to see those again.

For fun I wanted to compare Knight Rider to Doctor Who and see who agrees with me.

Original KR Series= Classic DW Series KR2000=DW 1996 TVM
KR2008 TVM=Current DW Series
TKR=Torchwood
KR2010=Dimensions in Time
New K.I.T.T.=Torchwood Van

Discuss :D

Actually overall I like Torchwood. I'm being a bit silly with this thread. I only watched about five minutes of TKR once when it was first on, same with KR 2010. They weren't my thing.

Haha... Dimensions in Time...

The thing about Doctor Who is that it's really okay to keep remaking it. Everyone seems to love and accept it no matter what they do. Or, at least we keep watching. Most Knight Rider fans, on the other hand, are extremely anxious about the potential series, if not all-out furious about it. I do wonder what the fan reaction was when they first changed Doctors, though...

Wait... I think I got it. The one constant in Doctor Who (besides companions) is the Tardis, which hasn't changed in more than a decade. Somehow the presence of that blue box makes everything right, even if the interior changes. I guess if they redesigned it/her, I might be making a fuss the way everyone is fussing over the KITTstang now. :mrgreen:

Also, how about Knight Rider 2000 equals the Doctor Who TV movie back-door pilot (with the 8th Doctor.) Both are cherished and completely disregarded by fans at the same time. "Paul McGann is great! Wait... the Doctor is half human? The Master is American? The Eye of Harmony is in the Tardis? Uh... Let's just ignore that."

That's in Britan; when are they gonna show it in the states?
KITT: I walked right into that one, didn't I?
Michael: More like Turbo Boosted.

I can't get into Torchwood. I agree with your comparisons though. @kopiikat - There was no bad fallout when they changed doctors, no backlash from fans or anything. It was known a coupe of weeks before it happened due to Hartnell's bad health.

I'm not sure of the exact date but the new season of DW will be on Sci-Fi just a week or two after it aires on BBC. I know it's going to be on a Friday. Sci-FI is also going to show Sarah Jane Adventures.

Who knows, but Sci-fi has gotten better (or luckier) at showing it sooner. The British airdate was just recently announced at that!

Myself, I just get up late on Saturday, download it and roll around in Tennant goodness...
