Is the new KITT (Mustang) available in 1:18 scale?
I know that there is no officially licensed Knight Rider diecast of the Mustang, but is there a model that matches or closely resembles the new Knight Industries 3000?

The only one I found on Diecastmuscle was with blue stripes. I did find one here with black stripes. Still no word whether or not it will include a scanner:GarthKnight08 wrote:There is a licensed version of the the new KR diecast!

Interesting...the pic has the red in the scanner, I wonder if they Photoshopped that in or if the actual model will have those.GarthKnight08 wrote:There is one on the front page of the site Chris

I wrote to another place and they said there was no scanner in the model. Pity.

You can see the red scanner here:

I wrote to ShopShelby.com.
Here's the actual email:
We’re in the process of developing our GT500KR “King of the Road” and it’ll be similar to the one in Knight Rider. Sorry, no scanner lights. It’ll be available this summer, both in 1:18 scale and 1:64 scale.

When I clicked on the link, it brought me to the description that says Stripes: Blue. Am I in the wrong place? Every other site says the same thing (one I saw had Silver stripes), but only here does it actually say "with Black Stripes"..

I thought the stripes on the hero KITT 3000 were silver? They wouldn't be black or blue.

I'm still looking for a schematic to make the front scanner(s). I could use two of the original one, but it wouldn't really look right.

Then the site should not be featuring a picture of the Knight 3000 under the description for this model. I know that model designs are subject to slight changes before the final release, but this is flat out false advertising and misleading for what is in my opinion a completely different car. K.I.T.T. is a character, not another version of the Shelby.corlando52 wrote:We’re in the process of developing our GT500KR “King of the Road” and it’ll be similar to the one in Knight Rider. I wrote to diecast muscle about the different color stripes and here is the reply:
Chris,
As far as we know, there will only be one version, which will have black
stripes. We will be revising our website sometime next week.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Re: Is the new KITT (Mustang) available in 1:18 scale?
I also wrote to Auto Indulgence Inc., the people who did the KR hood and scanner for the TV show (I've been very busy) about a scanner for the model, etc. Here is the reply:
Hello Chris,
We don't have anythiong for a 1/18 or 1/24 model car, the specs on the light are very detailed and complex designed circut board. The board itself is 5" x 12" and that doesn't even include the LED boards... I will look in to making a light for those of you that want it... Please give us the size that you would need and we will see what we can do.. Below is what is being sent out to people interested in the full size light...
We are working on the hood design in a customer version, below is what we are sending out in reply to the interest in the scanner.
We do have a 15" light available that is already made (not from the knight rider movie) http://shop.autoi.com/osb/itemdetails.cfm/ID/4408
Thank you for your interest in the Knight Rider Scanner... We will be
making a limited number of scanners on the first run, we will how ever be
making some in Red & Amber. We will inform you about two weeks before they
will be available, please understand that we have received many requests for
this item and will only be making about 200 units to start and only 30 of
the Amber units. Everyone that has sent us an e-mail request for the item
will be informed first. We are still working on modifying the scanner with
some extra features etc... We are still working on pricing.., will have the
hood also available with or without the light installed (hood will fit 05-09
Mustang).
We will then send a e-mail blast to everyone on our e-mail list (26k)
As of right now we have about 195 people that have sent us a e-mail request.
All of the people that send us an e-mail will be notified first, then in 4
days we will make them available to the public. We will also have the hoods
available with or without lights... (it will be about 2 months before we
have a finished product, but will have some prototypes that we will offer
soon).
As of right now the hood will cost about $900 and the lights we are still
working to get the cost to be more affordable.
If you have any further question please feel free to contact us.
Thanks,
Pierre Hoffmann
--------I will write him back and post any new information about a scanner for the model here. STAY TUNED!
