Hitari Knight Rider

Post by Stargazer » Mon Mar 26, 2007 11:19 am

I contacted Hitari asking if there were any US suppliers for the Knight Rider R/C car. This is the reply that I received:

Many thanks for your email and interest in the Knight Rider, unfortunately
we have no suppliers in the US at the moment.

We could ship a Knight Rider to you using Airmail International signed for
service, this is the cheapest way to do that from the UK. The cost of this
is £16.81 + the Knight Rider @ £29.99 x 1.9 (US$/UK£ exchange rate) = $88.92
total cost including shipping and batteries.

You can pay via http://www.paypal.com to sales@hitari.com if you wish to proceed
with the purchase or let me know if you need any further information

Yours sincerely,

Hitari Ltd

well they release the General Lee RC car in america and like the KITT RC it is based on the 1/18 scale diecast right down to the incorrect rims that are on the 1/18 scale diecast general lee (spokes are too thin and they are all chrome instead of a dull silver with black/gunmetal paint in the recessed areas).

Here is the R/C car.

Image
and here is the AMT/Ertl/Racing Champions 1/18 scale diecast of the General.

I have seen the LARGE R/C general lee at my walmart they also sell a 1/18 version that has 3 buttons near the rear window that makes a engine start up sound, the dixie horn, and the dukes going "yeeahh haaaa!" with light up head and taillights. this one other than the fact that it has blacked out windows and side glass and the body is molded in plastic with sealed shut doors, it is IDENTICAL to my 1/18 scale diecast general lee. So i don't see why they dont import the R/C kitt to the USA?

EDIT Hitari offers the 1/15 scale R/C General Lee on their site R/C General Lee So if they can sell the General in the USA WHY not the KITT? *shakes head*
Michael: "You know, your as much fun as a divorce, which is not a bad idea!"
KITT: "I want custody of ME!"

Not at the current moment I won't, but in the near future I may. I'd like to get in there and modify it like some of the ones on eBay. Change out the LED lights to white and put a seperate switch on there for them to stay on (LEDs don't draw much power), hide the antenna in the shell, trim down the bonnet, etc.
