Okay, so this is old news to a few of us including myself, but I figured I'd post here anyways as some may not have heard the news AND it seems that K.I.T.T./Knight Rider fans are also fans of other TV/Movies cars & their respective shows/movies (I.E. Delorean/Back To The Future, Charger/Dukes Of Hazzard).
Anyhoo, I originally found the news out on http://www.hollywood-diecast.com a while back who had also provided the link to http://www.1966batmobile.com/hw.htm which has some details of the upcoming 1966 Batmobile which Mattel (Hot Wheels) will apparently be releasing in a few scales including 1/64 & 1/18!!!
I know I'll gladly be adding the 1/18 gem to my collection!!!
Really great that there's more and more 1:18 models of tv-cars.
Mattel Hotwheels also makes the 1980's red Ferrari Testarossa in 1:18 since they have the exclusive license for Ferrari models. Wish they'd release it in white as a Miami Vice Testarossa too

Didn't Burago do the 1:18 Testarossa in white? I had the 1:24 Miami Vice one
I don't know about Burago Testarossa, there's so many models I've lost track of them LOL. All I know so far is that Revell released some time ago the plastic models of Miami Vice Ferrari's, both the Spyder and Testarossa.
I start running out of room too for diecast models, have bought only one 1:18 this year but nine 1:43's and few other scales. Still there's lots of models I'd like to have...

What you're seeing is the comic book Batmobile from the same era by Johnny Lighting/Ertl. It was designed to resemble the TV series Batmobile. Just like the Knight 4000 was designed to resemble the 1988 Pontiac Banshee concept.

Thanks. I think I have all of the 1:18 releases, including the original BTTF II version that was quickly replaced with a more accurate version that I also have
true story about the diecast batmobile from the 60s. johnny lightning/polar lights was gonna come out with a diecast and plastic kit versions of the 60s tv car and was listed in the catalogs of that year and various model car magazines. at the last minute george barris, the car's designer changed his mind and the idea was scrapped. so JL/PL retooled the car to resemble the comic book of the 60s which was 'inspired' by the tv show car. this will be the first time since the 60s we have seen a all new toy replica of the tv show car as the previous versions were sold under the corgi brand for the diecasts in the 60s. there was also a 1/32 scale model kit of the car but its very rare and very $$$.

Here's the bast part, as per http://www.1966batmobile.com/hw.htm : "In fall 2007, there will be an additional 1:64th scale model introduced as well as a 1:43rd scale replica model and a 1:18th scale, which will have three tiers of detail and finish. The ultimate version, the Hot Wheels Elite™ special edition Batmobile, will have enough detail to delight even the most discriminating of Batmobile aficionados and die-cast collectors alike."
I'll be waiting for the 1:18 Elite Special Edition
the one thing i don't like about the hotwheels batmobile is the small 'tm' next to the bat logo on the doors. I HOPE the 1/18 cars do NOT have this or i will have to use some rubbing alcohol or thinner and a q tip and remove that lettering.

I doubt the 1:18's will have this, especially the 'Elite' version. It would be VERY disappointing otherwise.
True, but I also highly doubt the TM will appear on the 1:18 models as this hasn't been the case with other 1:18 models like the Ecto-1 or Monkee-mobile. I can't see Mattel messing up like that, especially on the Elite version of the 1:18 model.
