There is black tape on the bumper!

Looks like KITT's foglight opening is covered with clear plexiglass and the upper half of the plexi is covered with black tape or paint. I kind of like that look.

Well that's not what I was looking for but I can answer that. I doubt its black tape I think its metal but if you want to see a good view of it here's a picture where they are pretty much blowing in the wind I captured it from "The Topaz Connection"
I was actually talking about the clear things that look like fog lights but they look like the ones from a corvette.

I have noticed this just recently when watching KR on my computer. I can see things better on this 19" monitor. I said something about it to a guy friend of mine that is also into KR. I noticed the tape on the turn signal covers in several episodes. I think that's why they went with a different nose in the later shows. I plan on doing my conversion with the 1st season nose though.

It's just a metal plate thing, not tape.

You can also notice the stock steering wheel in the picture.

I've changed my mind about the corvette the one i'm looking at anyway didn't exist back then and has a slightly different light.
I wonder why they used a stock dash and wheel for that scene they were only going on a straight desert road flooring it with maximum power.

It IS a metal plate thing. But it looks, in that picture, that there's tape ON the metal plate thing. See, on the right side you see screws. The left it looks like...well...tape.

Guys, (and gals)
To answer the questions posted:
Yes, that one side has gaffers tape holding it on. There is one episode
Early on in season one (Don' recall which at the moment but it was
an early one where both sides are taped down. It is to help keep
them on one of the driving cars. The other side is how the picture
car happens to have it mounted. There are 2 small screws on each
side that are screwed down to a block of wood underneath the blackout.
The corvette look your seeing is this:
The season 1 nose had folding louvers under the nose. (Kind of like
window blinds.) When the lights were off, they would close. When
the lights came on, they would open to make the slotted grill we are
used to seeing. They just never showed this up close. Starting in season
two, they removed the folding ones for s et of fixed ones that always
showed the fog lamps. Later removing the Grills althogether.
Hope that helps with the questions.

Wow! Never knew about the folding louvres! Kinda cool thing to see.
Thanks for sharing that tidbit of information

Yeah I agree they would be great if you watch the start of season 3 I think you see them open so that would be a good example
