KVK battle scene KITT inconsistancy

Post by pdennis93 » Sun May 21, 2006 3:25 pm

i dont know if anyone has ever noticed this or not, maybe ive just seen the episode one too many times, but i was just watching it on DVD again and when michael is talking to KARR trying to convince him to let mandy and jon out, you can clearly see that KITT's back seat is the older 1 piece seat, but for the rest of the battle scene its the newer 2 piece backseat...

oops :)

it seems pretty weird though that they would film those lines at different times? you'd think they would have filmed all of those in car lines at the same time, however they must not have as you can clearly see the seat difference which would indicate 2 different cars were used...

That's intersting. I haven't watched that one enough to notice. I have watched "Inside Out" too many times...hehe. When Col. Kincaid says "Deploy" and Michael and KITT do a 180 and back into the spot. Well when KITT is turning if you notice there is no licence plate on the back of that KITT. It is just plain black, no CA plate that says Knight...hehe.

Simple reason behind the K.I.T.T. Vs K.A.R.R. nitpick:

K.I.T.T. Vs K.A.R.R. was the first episode to be filmed for the third season. The Season 2 car was used for all driving scenes, as both K.I.T.T. and K.A.R.R. This is plain to see at various points in the show -- the Season 2 dash is visible in some K.I.T.T. scenes, the split back seat doesn't appear at all, and K.I.T.T. still retains the Season 2 overhead console buttons (identical to K.A.R.R.) There is one shot of the "real" S3 dash as K.I.T.T. confronts K.A.R.R. at Mr. D.'s, which was probably added later.

Lost Knight was also filmed with the Season 2 car as it was second in production for the third season. The first use of the Season 3 dash/hero car came in Knight in Disgrace, third-produced show for Season 3 (and they really showed it off!). They continued to use the Season 2 car in a lot of episodes, specifically in the "blind-driving" scenes of K.I.T.T. on auto pilot ("Circus Knights" and "Deadly Knightshade" spring to mind).

It really didn't matter which car was used, since almost every shot of the dash was an insert shot anyway (from the studio dash mock-up).

The production order for the beginning of Season 3 was as follows:

K.I.T.T. Vs. K.A.R.R.
Lost Knight
Knight in Disgrace
The Ice Bandits
Knight of the Drones
Knights of the Fast Lane

kind of interesting that they filmed KVK first...just like im assuming in S4 they filmed knight of the jauggernaut and knight song at the same time because knight song was also filmed in chicago...

just a hunch

Actually, "Knight Song" was not filmed in Chicago - it just used recycled footage of Chicago shot during "Knight of the Juggernaut". I believe "Song" was filmed on the Universal Studios backlot.

And some of the scenes in Juggernaut were also filmed in Universal backlot. The alley where Michael first meets Street Avenger is seen in many, many TV shows.
