Isnt KITT a bit Lazy sometimes?

Post by Rossy » Sun Apr 16, 2006 2:10 pm

Ive noticed in Some episodes KITT will pick up cars or a road block 1 mile away or a woman trapped in a well or a man unconcious in a building

but sometimes he cant even notice something very close to him such as a man hiding with a gun do you think sometimes he gets days were he just cant be bothered LOL

I have thought of this before. Indeed, it can be rather odd. :? It must just be down to how he's programmed.

KITT often just doesn't take the initiative. He just simply waits for instructions. This can be a really bad thing if Michael is in danger.

I agree with you Rossy. In "Ring of Fire" (second season episode) when Michael and KITT were driving through the woods chasing some guy how could they have ever drove straight into the pond of water and get stuck? I mean isn't KITT supposed to be able to scan these kinds of landmarks several hundred feet away at least? Is it due to KITT's imperfections eventhough he is a computer?

According to The Knight Rider Scriptwriter's Bible:

Since Kitt cannot take independent action unless on Surveillance Mode,
any functions it can perform in the field have to be directed by Michael.

Thing is, I thought in one episode (the one where in Season 4 they had to go get a big yellow hovercraft), KITT WAS in survailance mode (scanner on) and yet the creeps were getting away. But, I think he mentioned he wanted to get them but Michael said no?

Anyway, I do agree, KITT is bound by the programming to do what Michael says, and not do anything UNLESS he says to.

Actually, that can be a safety feature. I mean, what if a robot car goes haywire (like KARR or something?) and you have to have safegaurds. Plus if KITT went off to get the villians, he'd be leaving Michael behind and what if Michael suddenly needed help?
