I just watched the rest of Season 4 today.
In Knight Fright, Robert Englund played the Phantom. He also starred as the Phantom in I think a 1989 (was it) adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera. I'm wondering if he liked the part that he got it for the movie or if the movie was before KR and they were using him to spoof it in a way?
Was pretty cool nonetheless.
The Phantom of the Opera with Robert Englund as the Phantom is my favorite rendition. He's a very talented actor (I've seen him in other things and not the Friday the 13th ones because I never really got into the Friday the 13th movies).

He wasn't in Friday The 13th. It was A Nightmare on Elm Street. He played Freddy Krueger, and Freddy Vs Jason is actually considered to be a nightmare on elm street 8. He has done a lot of films and TV shows since the 70's. He currently lends his voice to the Justice League cartoon and the new batman animated series.
He played the role of Edward Kent in Knight Rider in 1986. He landed the role as the the Phantom in the movie in 1989. 3 year gap so I doubt h e was spoofing himself in Knight Rider

See, I don't get into horror stories that much.

So I didn't know. I get the two confused.
I thought that the Phantom movie he did was in '89. It's odd that he'd play a phanom in KR and then be one a few years later. Guess he must've liked the part.

They are about to do a Freddy prequel. It's going to concentrate on the origins of freddy and how things happened leading up to him being burned.
Should be good but they must have casted Englund based on his portrayal of freddy in the NOES film.
He always plays villains in his films.

He's a really good actor and does them quite well.

I remember seeing a Nightmare on Elm Street series at one point...the pilot episode of the series showed Freddy's trial and how he got off, and it showed the people that hunted him down and burned him. I just managed to find it on IMDB too, I knew I wasn't imagining things. Robert Englund did reprise the role of Freddy in it.

Yeah, I have that episode on dvd but it's in a different universe to the films.
Each episode had a certain story, most of them having nothing to do with freddy except him being the host.
If you like freddy, try and find the series but it'll be very difficult.
I think Fright Knight is quite an under-rated episode but then I love Jaws too and seeing Englund and Jaws in this episode done it for me.
