Lost one of my T tops of my Model Karr!

Post by whet » Fri Apr 07, 2006 1:45 pm

Dam I have one of my little T tops of my Karr missing.
Think it must have happened whilst the room was cleaned.

I have looked high and low for it.

But if I can't find it I suppose the only way I could replace it would be to get a complete new model :x

anybody had a problem with this?

Sorry to hear that. My 1:18 KITT almost lost one T-top too when I took it outdoors to photograph, wind catched one T-top and almost sent it in a lake.

A tip on doing T-Tops on models (so you don't "loose" another T-Top) :)

http://www.fuzziedice.com/models/trigger/index.html

Scroll down to Step 9: "Final" Assembly

This is something I did on a '77 T/A model and might help.

Also, you COULD try fashioing a new T-Top using just plain sheet styrene. Draw out on paper around the existing t-top piece. Then FLIP OVER the pattern and use it as a guide to cut out the other T-Top. Might not be exact, but at least it's a cover. :)

Outside of that, try Slix Decals, inc. :

http://www.slixx.com/

This site also sells individual parts for car models. They MIGHT have a t-top to fit your model or you could call them and see if they have any in stock or know where to get them.

I noticed that the T-tops on my 18th scale KITT come off really easy. I know if I take it anywhere I need to take the tops off and put them in a safe place.

Here's some other advice for 1/18 ertl cars. Put your T-Tops in the trunk since they come off so easily.

Thanks Andy-Kitt, I havd some luck i got out of bed for work, and the last thing I thought about was the T top, but there is was just under my beside unit :P

It's always strange how something you have lost turns up least when you exspect it, try and be more carful from now on.
