Anyone know how much KITT costs?
Just wondering what the cost of the original KITT is. I may want to buy it someday.

Ah, but compound that with the fact that the car is now over 20 years old and most of the technology is obsolete (he didn't even have a CD player and his disk drive is only a 5.25" probably 1.22MB at best). Might even be worth much less than the 11 million. 
Though I hear more functional KITT cars are selling for oh, 40 grand (US) these days....

Are we talking about K.I.T.T.'s fictitious price in the series or the price of one of the actual original cars used in the series? In "Killer K.I.T.T.," Berio's girlfriend states that "the car's worth millions." In real-life I highly doubt one of the original cars would be as high priced as $11 million, though. I'd imagine it's in the hundred thousand range or possibly a million at most. Of course that's just a wild guess, though.

I think the original poster wants to know how much one of the screen used cars would cost. Sounds like... And that would only be in the tens of thousands. IIRC, Mark's Custom Kits refurbished an original screen used car and sold it for around 40 grand or something in that ballpark. The original did not have many of it's features on the dash working, nor did the scanner work. When they got done with the car, everything worked! Though it couldn't drive by itself, only spoke I think from a CD, if at all, and couldn't turboboost, but the scanner worked, odometer, etc. worked, buttons would light up and beep when pressed, I think... Much more functional than the screen used car.

If anything, I'd think the original screen used cars (if any remain) would have significantly LESS functionality than the replicas people are building today. Nothing inside the screen cars had to work, or even do anything at all...they could just cover it up with special effects. The only reason I can see a screen car selling for more than a replica is for collector value (and that's assuming there's a way it could be proved that it was an original screen car). I'd think that, if any of them were left today, they would probably be in very bad shape, and if it's an "authentic" KITT you're after, it would be much easier/cheaper to get or build a replica rather than trying to refurbish a screen car. I'm waiting for someone to build a KITT replica that has a functional "super pursuit" mode. Granted, you can't expect it to go 300mph, but it'd be neat if someone could find a way to make the car modify itself at the press of a button like in the show. I know that during filming, they had to use 4 different cars (not counting stunt cars)...one regular, one super pursuit, one convertable, and one that could transform between regular and super pursuit. The transformable car couldn't move though, as they had to remove the engine to make room for all of the hydraulics used to move the body panels. I do wonder how they did the convertable though...in some shots, you can see when it transforms from convertable to regular, the hard shell slides back and disappears, and the top comes down. However, after that it doesn't look right until the camera changes angle and then changes back, then it suddenly looks like normal non-convertable KITT again. I have no idea how they filmed the semi-transformation scenes. I'm sure there are Knight Rider fans and replica builders out there that are determined to find a way to make a replica that somehow includes the C button and super pursuit mode, though how they could possibly fit all of the necessary hydraulics in the car without removing the engine like they did in the one used for filming I have no idea.

Just to clairify, the four cars used in Season 4 were: one drivable Super Pursuit Mode car with welded extensions; one transformable car with no engine so that the SPM extensions had room to retract; one "permanent" convertible; and a non-drivable shell of a convertible with a track system that could retract the roof (which is why we never see the metamorphosis occur when the car is moving). As for making a fully functional drivable SPM car that can retract its extensions, I think it's impossible. There's just no room. Making a fully functional drivable Convertible Mode car is possible, though, but there'd be no room for the hard shell without it manually being placed on the car afterward. It would have been more practical for the producers to have this hard shell sectional; more specifically: have it be two or three pieces that slide out from each side of the car and snap together to completely cover the back end. It would have made more sense than a big solid shell sliding in out of nowhere.
