One more hurdle jumped in my quest to make my KITT authentic

Post by BoMcD » Tue Feb 14, 2006 12:18 pm

I have been really working hard to make my KITT look like the pilot version seen in Knight of the Phoenix... In that quest, I noticed that there were no really dead-on voiceboxes available for KITT's voicebox area, to me the most important part of the dash...
I am a graphic artist by trade but part of my job history is Computer aided design. I carefully studied the voicebox, and made forensic photo measurements, and came up with this 3D model...

I sent that model to the company that does my Rapid prototyping and got back a beautiful pattern....

Here is the master pattern for the first season Voicebox

you can compare it to the original...

While I was at it, I made a version for the second seaon style as well...

This has been a very slow and tedious process but i think in the end, it will be worth the efforts...

AWESOME!! that is so cool. I've always felt that the reproductions out there just weren't accurate enough. They look nice, but they never quite perfect, based on looking at the images on the net. What do you model in for rapid prototyping? I've always wanted to get into that.

Thanks.. I used Rhino3D for this project...

And that was my whole point for doing them...
I also made a reproduction of the 2-monitor TV frames but designed them to use LCD's instead of the CRT's the original used....

Hey Bo, any chance Brian will be mass producing these like your TV frames? Would love to have that second season frame! Very awesome!
