If I ever get the chance to go through my many knight rider tapes I might be able to get it for you. I have that episode somewhere but its been awhile since ive come across it. Pretty much since the seasons have come out on DVD i pretty much just gave up on episode searching on my tapes.

I've been planning to make it available on the Archive (for novelty value), since I have a bad feeling they're going to do the same thing with Knight of the Juggernaut's opening titles in the fourth season set.

The opening titles for Knight of the Juggernaut on the Playback video are the originals for that episode, ie. what were originally screened on NBC back in 1985. Unique Season 4 titles with the non-SPM K.I.T.T. The whole idea of those unique titles was to keep the upgrades a secret -- the ad campaign gave some clues, but to reveal the surprises in the first few minutes would spoil the fun.
The same rules applied with Knight of the Drones -- it opened with Season 3 titles, but with the Season 2 dash, meaning we had to wait until the second half of the episode to be introduced to the new look.
It's a small gripe with the DVDs, but quite important. They claim to be complete and uncut, but it's not the case. They are complete visually, (Drones opening titles notwithstanding), but as we're discovering, the soundtracks are incomplete, recut and modified from the originals.

I haven't checked out my VHS recording of the 4th season intro yet from KotJuggernaut but I'm afraid that too is the regular 4th season intro.

In the UK the "special" Knight of the Drones titles were only shown with the original broadcast in 1984. For some reason all reruns have used the standard Season 3 openings. Very strange. Knight of the Juggernaut has always been screened here with its real opening titles however, and the same goes for the video releases of Juggernaut here.

KRA do you know if you have a way to make a mpeg of it? I as i said used to have it but no longer. But on tapes from a station here in the US called WGN. I am sorta disapointed in Universal on their cutbacks and lack of real uncut or unedited. Honestly they should Rerelease the whole thing over again with everything intact. Or Co-ordinate with some of the more knowledgeable people within the KR community. At least get the darn thing right. Some who buy the DVD boxsets may not know the difference but we surely do.

intro
I've got the correct intro myself....I still have the complete series saved on VHS that I taped all those years ago. I'll get the 3rd season out of storage tomorrow and ask a friend of mine to take it to his studio and run it in the computer for me in mpg format. If anyone else can get it quicker please do but I hope to have it in a week.

I think that's a common technique used by networks when they air syndicated shows. One case that comes to mind is the opening "saga cells" of Quantum Leap, which are basically a prologue of the show's premise. The saga cell was always changed in each new season; however, all syndicated episodes are edited to only use the third season openings. I'm sure it's a similar situation with Knight Rider.Knight Rider Archive wrote:In the UK the "special" Knight of the Drones titles were only shown with the original broadcast in 1984. As for the inconsistencies between Season 3 and Season 4 with opening credits, maybe Season 4's original footage didn't include shots of Super Pursuit Mode in the premiere (assuming that NBC specially edited Season 3's opener as a one-time thing, and that syndication kept the edit). Since we have yet to see Season 4 on DVD, I'm curious to see if "Knight Of the Juggernaut" will have SPM shots in the credits.
